one reason why Gonzales as AG is a good thing
he won't be re-submitted for the DC Circuit. at least as AG he has a finite tenure and won't be interpreting law with life time tenure as an appelate judge

3. here's hoping....
just for whatever crap he pulls over the next 4 years can be undone by the next AG - or kept in check by judges - whereas with the Circuit he's decisions would be precedent...

5. One Reason Why It's Not a Good Thing
Remember, this was the guy who said torture was okay as long as the President said it was okay, and that the Geneva Conventions were "quaint".

What if as AG, he decides that some laws are "quaint" and that as President, Bush can adjust then as he sees fit.

And don't say it won't happen because Congress won't let it happen, we can't trust Congress either, most of them are only concerned with getting re-elected, and we the people don't count for much anymore, unless you haven't noticed.

6. you're 100% correct
but my point is that his insanity will not be solidified in the same way as if he were a federal judge and he won't continue after the end of chimpII - rather, he would stay on the bench indefinitely otherwise

sure he's liable, and likely, will do abominable things and step all over the constitution, but his actions will be transient rather than long lasting

Alberto Gonzales(general counsel to * in texas) advised the shrub to allow the execution of Terry Washington, a retarded man with the mental capacity of a 7-year-old. And indeed they killed him.
