I think I need to find a site where tolerance is the accepted practice & bashing is not.

Although I live in Oregon now, until last summer I was a Texan, born and bred. My home state seems to produce all the oozing slime currently occupying the political spectrum. I feel your pain, brotherman.

I'm not gay, but I love my gay friends (OK, I love all my friends). When I was going through a terrible divorce, my straight friends deserted me. My gay friends called me every day, came over and made me leave the house, and were more supportive than I could have wished for. I'll appreciate them forever.

I'm a sort-of Christian, having grown up in the Presbyterian church. These days, I'm not much into organized religion, but I still have my own faith, supplemented with readings about other religions. Kind of a modified Christianity, if you will. :)

I love liberals! I love the South! My family is from the South - a couple of us ended up in Michigan though.

I will be the first person to stand up for gays and lesbians to be treated with dignity. And I will not tolerate them - I will accept them.

However, I was totally caught off-guard by the atheist bashing. I apologize if it wasn't you, and I sure hope it wasn't. Your other posts are excellent.

I'm a "secular" individual, and I go out of my way to show respect for Christians. I'm not overly pleased with the atheist community, however, I've seen a lot of posts by atheists here that have changed my mind - maybe it's just the conservative atheists that give me the

But to blame 0.5% of the population for this election loss is beyond absurd, and I won't tolerate it. To me, it's the same as blaming the gays and lesbians for our loss.

I am not gay ( but I play one on TV! lol!) but I am sure getting the s-t kicked out of me for being liberal. What has happened to this board? People seem to want to bond with the fudies and roll over. Not everyone of course, but a large percentage. I just read a post with one of our people quoting a Freeper website criticizing us and asking that we not give them ammo. Cripes. We might offend a freeper, And the freeper they refer to, turned DU into Homeland Security. Just the website I want to please. As far as a Southerner and Christian go, I like smart Southerners.They are generally smarter than anyone else. Maybe they have to be to combat stereotypes, but it is the truth. And the liberal Southerners are the bravest people I know. It takes a lot more courage to be a liberal Southerner than a liberal Easterner, where everyone is your friend. A tip of the hat to you. As far as Christian goes, I used to be one. Your presence on this board indicates to me that you don't proselytize and that is enough for me. As for being gay, I am a woman, so what? Tell 'em to piss off. You are just a person like all the rest of us and entitled to the same rights. If they can't deal with it, or are willing to sell you out, they have lost the title of liberal!

love gays, love the enthusiasm and hard work of the southern liberal amongst all the conservatives. any punk ass blue state resident mouthing off to a liberal in a red state simply doesnt have a clue. being a calif living in panhandle of texas and surrounded by fundies i know where i speak. and i too am a christian, not the christian defined by the fundies and now being held by the nation, i imagine more the type of christian you are. we are needed more than anything right now to help bring our fellow "christians" out of the dark and hate and back to the path of lite and love.........
