And the DLC comes storming back......
Rightly so, I may add.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6453647/

Find the answer at Applebee’s
One veteran Democratic strategist, Clinton White House political director Doug Sosnik, sums up the answer in one word: Applebee’s.

For Sosnik, the chain of modestly priced restaurants (more than 1,600 in 49 states), symbolizes precisely what is wrong with the party’s Washington-based elite.

Democratic leaders are out of touch with the American people, Sosnik said in a panel discussion Tuesday sponsored by the centrist Democratic Leadership Council (DLC).

“The leadership of our party has a cultural disconnect,” Sosnik said. “Our leaders — particularly Washington, D.C.-based — don’t really have the same life, day to day, as all those people out there in those red states. We don’t eat at the same restaurants. I don’t know how many politicians in town that are leaders of our party who voluntarily go to Applebee’s, unless it’s for work. You look at the swing voters out there, what their sporting events are, the music they listen to, the celebrities, the television programs, it’s just not what the East Coast leadership (watches) — it’s not quite where we are.”

"Talk about Applebee's, we don't even go to the Cracker Barrels and the Denny’s as well," added Donna Brazile, who served as Al Gore's campaign manager in 2000.

kick our way out of a burlap sack of "reality" created for us by those in power. This puzzle, this "brainteaser" of what-went-wrong is founded on manufactured reality. what we have to decide, sooner every day, is what kind of patriots we are going to be.

19. More excuses why Democrats are unpatriotic?
They were first to report! Acording to the exit polls (which were apparently all wrong except for when they reported) moral values were what caused the democrats this most recent election. People loved this excuse. The Democrats lack values. They also don't have religion. And they like gays. All reasons NOT to vote for Democrats.

By the way, late breaking news! The Democrats don't eat at Applebees, either. (gasp) Nor do they wear near enough articles of clothing featuring the American flag. When they go on vacation, they don't wear fanny-packs, for shame. And when's the last time you saw a Democrat buying a beer cozy at Wal-Mart? These are all examples why Democrats are out of touch with America. Exactly. Thanks Doug Sausagelick. What a fucking prickface.

22. What a bunch of fucking goddamn bullshit.
The sooner this fucking party accepts that trying to be exactly like the "other guy" is not a long term winning strategy, especially when the other guy totally sucks ass, the better.

Americans who do actually think Bush sucks take one look at the alternative and say, "well fuck that..."

If someone had the courage to really stand up and be their own man or woman, and stand for the principles WE ALL KNOW ARE RIGHT and worry a little be less about how to lie cheat and steal the public into voting for us, we would win in a landslide. The more and more this country shifts toward the right, the more and more ready it is for a REVOLT and a DIFFERENCE.

I don't give a fuck about connecting with "heartland" America if heartland American IS DEAD WRONG. In that case, I want to make the case for CHANGING HEARTS AND MINDS not just trying to be a sniveling apologist for whatever the current "trend" happens to be.

We need our party of opposition back. We need our party of difference back. We need our party of principles back. We need our part of traditional liberal values - which by the way *ARE* morally right. Yes, be genuine, yes be a man of the people, yes be sincere and in touch with other real folks. But customize your message and shift what you are for based on what you think will SELL best? NO.

Never again. Never, never, never, never, never again. I'd rather do what I know is right and lose than sacrifice what I know is right to "win." But I don't believe we'll lose. I believe the only way we'll really win is to show a country that is rip and ready for distinct change that new and different better way.

And the DLC does not share my belief, or my aims, or my convictions, or my values in any way shape or form. They are the antithesis of everything that I cherish and know to be just and right.

Have a nice day.

38. Waving their glorious white banners, as usual.
We must join with the heartland folks!

1. Bibles should be carried to all public events.
2. References to God and this being a "Christian nation" should be added to the obligatory "Gawd Bless Amurka".
3. Words with more than 3 syllables should be used with caution and mispronounced if possible.
4. "Y'all" should replace elitist words like "you".
5. Cowboy boots made from exotic animal skins (aka "hides") are to worn with all clothing, including pajamas.
6. Beer should be drunk with all meals.
7. Belching and farting should be limited to mostly male company.
8. Reading material should consist only of "manly" magazines about sports or hunting. However, be wary of Muscleman magazines unless you are governor of California and have a gutteral accent.
9. Only music with lyrics containing references to Jesus, dogs, whiskey, cheating wimmen, guns, or trucks should be listened to.
10. If anyone should ask about Beethoven, Tolstoy, Picasso, or anyone similar, you should ask what team they play on.
11. If a woman, remember, you have nothing to say about anything other than children, church, cooking, or clothes. All references to your husband should be made with reverence. Frilly aprons and recipes for chocolate chip cookies are mandatory.
12. "Common Sense" should be a major part of any conversation about education and boasts of never having read a book is advisable.
13. Drive only "manly" vehicles and boast about horsepower and size. If with your wife, leer knowingly in her direction while doing so.
14. Crushing beer cans is advisable, but not against your forehead exept when it is absolutely necessary to proclaim your manhood.
15. A "southern" accent is absolutely necessary if seeking public office. Pronouncements about foreigners should always be done with a sneer. Pronouncements about minorities should alway be done patronizingly as if referring the handicapped.

For the final exam, you will be tested on your ability to chew tobacca, scratch your crotch, sing the national anthem, wave the flag (Confederate preferably), and pray..simultaneously.

39. Denny's Sucks
-- and so does the DLC.

I never go to Denny's because when ordering a routine house salad, I prefer the NYC usual of exotic mixed greens topped with perhaps thinly sliced red onion, grape tomatoes, fresh ground pepper and raspberry vinaigrette -- not, as I last had at a Denny's -- chunks of freezer-burned iceberg lettuce topped with thick slices of over-ripe freezer-burned tomatoes topped with an indistinguishable dressing which looked like somebody sneezed it onto the plate.

Anyway, I have long been writing to Evan Bayh and Al From of the DLC to let (at least Sen. Bayh) know they will never have my vote for anything. The DLC remains a bigger threat to the Democratic party than the threatened one-party Republcan rule.

Down with the arrogant, out-of-touch, damaging DLC!

Katie bar the door! The DLC's comin', and this time they're ridin' a horse called Populism!

:eyes:

I really have to say that this is the DLC's crowning achievement in the field of absurdity. Now that they've done their damnedest to drive every last liberal out of the party, it occurs to them that a dose of homespun populism might not be such a bad idea after all...but instead of proposing anything of economic substance that might scare the big donors, they want us to eat at Appleby's like a bunch of goddamned fools at a Disney World attraction. Politics as tourism-cum-anthropology.

Idiots.

43. They're kidding, right? Please tell me they're kidding!
"“Let’s let Hollywood and the Cannes Film Festival fawn all over Michael Moore. We ought to make it clear he sure doesn’t speak for us when it comes to standing up for our country,” Marshall said.

“Democrats have to make it very clear to the electorate that we believe that America is essentially a force for good in the world,” he argued.

“Sometimes in our zeal to condemn Bush policy, we can go overboard in ways that really make them wonder whose side we’re on,” he said. “It is one thing to say the war in Iraq was a mistake; that’s a legitimate position held by many thoughtful people. It’s another thing to say it’s an expression of some grasping new American imperialism, some kind of plot to grab Middle East oil or, even more ludicrously, all just about putting more money into Halliburton.”

Marshall added, “We’ve got to make it real clear to folks that while we believe true patriotism means acknowledging our country’s mistakes and being willing to change course when things are going wrong, as they are in Iraq, we’ve got to repudiate the most strident and insulting anti-American voices out there, sometimes on our party’s left.”

Do you think anyone there at the DLC actually SAW F9/11? Anti-American? And heaven forbid, that we might say that the Bush Administration might have gone to war for illegitimate reasons!!!
