WHY CAN'T WE CANVASS A FLA. COUNTY OURSELVES?
I've posted this on several threads, but never get any feedback. So, I started this thread. Take a small county that the dems supposedly flipped on and prove it. Get volunteers to go door to door with the voter rolls and a prepared form for them to sign, stating that they voted for John Kerry on Nov. 2nd and COUNT them. Prima facia evidence that the vote was stolen, though it would not overturn the election. It would, however, make the headlines and start a lot of questions.

It is a very simple partial solution, but, IMHO, doable. Your response would be very appreciated.

1. Someone picks a county, gets the data and organizes
the compilation I'm in. I don't live near the border counties, but I've got a telephone that works just fine.

2. Thanks so much for some feedback
I can't do any of that, but I think the idea is doable. I am generally confined due to health problems, and I am not computer savvy as a lot of DUers are. I think that our wonderful Florida dems should do this because of time and travel constraints. But, I think it should be done. This might be the only way to crack this, as I see it. Sprinkling sunshine on the secrecy of the machines. First, we had feet. I think we need to use them.

3. I always wondered why it couldn't be done as well.

But then you never know if someone is lying or not. Some people think it should be confidential. It's too bad you couldn't take home a copy of what you voted for and then it could be verified by a door-to-door count like this. You could get the PIN number and match it up if the person keeps his or her PIN number. That may be what it comes down to in the future if enough people lobby for it.

4. I also want to add:

As the years pass by and people aren't required to register under a party, it will get harder and harder to trace because you won't know whether the precinct is a solid Dem or solid Repub or what. For instance, right now, we know what precincts lean which way by past voting history with the old non-computerized way of doing things. As time goes on, if the votes aren't accurate we will be led to think that maybe a precinct has gone one way when it actually hasn't, and no red flags will pop up. Think about that one will 'ya? :eyes:

5. Because it would not be "evidence," and definitely not "prima facae."
1. You have no legal authority to compel people to answer your questions.

2. Some people will absolutely refuse to tell you their name, and who they voted for.

3. Others will absolutely refuse to sign an affidavit, or testify in court.

4. Some people may lie to you.

5. There is no way to certify that YOU did not use preferencial polling, or throw out all of the Bush votes, or just make shit up.

6. There is no way to certify that you you counted every Kerry voter, and every Bush voter.

Enough reasons?

The Pagan Preacher
I don't turn the other cheek.

7. Sure, some might not want to tell you

However, why not? If they voted for *, they're probably proud of it. I believe that prima facea (thanks for the correction) means "on the face" which is applicable here. Why would throwing out votes accomplish anything. The quest is to verify that all dems who voted dem are counted. It would also be interesting to know their reasons for not telling you; and, you might end up with some doing that. If, however, most dems think the vote might have been stolen, they would tell you. No, it would not stand up in court, but it would verify that we are all not crazy, and alert the media.

Also, you take their names from the voter rolls on Nov. 2nd and have them sign the form that they voted and they voted dem. This would not be for court, and that would be known from the start. It is a survey for a simple reason. Was the vote flipped? I think most will answer and that will give us our answer.

Edited: Also, we would not need to count pug votes, just dems. Of course, we would note if they voted for *. That's the whole purpose of the survey.

I had a computer malfunction. Hopefully it is now fixed. I wish more people would think about this. It would take some time to do, and will soon be too late to be effectice.

Thanks to all who posted.

Edit: Gonna kick myself. LOL.
