Odd numbers from Cuyahoga County, OH

2. There was an article in the paper (Plain Dealer) about this...

it seems that the "registered voters" and "ballots cast" are looking at different divisions (something to do with city boundaries vs. congressional districts). It's apparently not evidence of fraud.

3. So an individual can be on several voter rolls, in different precincts?

Sounds a bit far-fetched to me.

4. The difference in the totals:

I agree with you..seems squirrelly to me. I did some quick/dirty math with the numbers.

Ballots cast: 268,575
Registered voters: 184,799

Difference: 73,776

Could there be almost 74,000 people registered in more than one precinct?

6. Forget the number, look at the percentage - it's nearly 40% more.

So 2 out of 5 people voted twice - even that assumes 100% of registered voters actually voted.

Gives new meaning to vote early, vote often.

5. No, the voter numbers don't match the ballots cast because the

lines are drawn in different places ("registered voters" for Bay Village, for example encompasses territory X while "votes cast" is for territory Y where X and Y are slightly different). That's what the article said, anyway.
