Who can realistically run for office?
I'm wondering if there are any DUers here who are elected officials, or have been elected to a position in the past. I've thought that I might like to run for an office from time to time, but I've always talked myself out of it, thinking it's not very realistic. For one, unless your looking at a governorship or an elected position at the federal level, wouldn't you have to be pretty much financially set - or do the lower level positions allow people to hold a regular job and still be able to represent your constituents?

1. 2 term Councilman in NJ
Takes up most of your evenings and weekends but there should be no problem with it interfering with your job.
