CNN...Kobe Bryant alleged victim is a 'nice girl'

So we're back to deciding the moral and sexual history of the accuser. Remember it wasn't so long ago that any rape victim basically had to prove that they were not sexually promiscous (or sexually active in the mores of the defense lawyers) to "prove" rape.


So I have CNN on while I eat lunch and I am not paying much attention. Then I hear the announcer say, "So what kind of girl is she?" Then they interview a friend who says, "She's a nice girl. I never had a problem with her (close to that)."

Whaaat?? I feel like I'm in the twilight zone sometimes. All women can be raped. Take the case to court and discuss it on the merits. Prove whether he assaulted her or not but her qualifications as a 'nice' girl have nothing to do with it. I don't care whether she is a 'nice girl' if she's a victim. I feel so sad for what is happening in our country.

2. Given the numerous recent cases of sports groupies

making false allegations against sports players (it happenned here in St. Louis with Marshall Faulk), it may not be an inappropriate question if the context was "is she greedy and trying to bilk Kobe of money."

If the question was in the context of "does she sleep around," it is totally inappropriate and I agree with your rant.
