Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison Ponders '08 Presidential Run
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison spoke Monday to a group of influential women at Good Housekeeping here - at the behest of editor in chief Ellen Levine. The topic: Hutchison's new book, "American Heroines: The Spirited Women Who Shaped Our Country."

The Texas Republican, herself on the short list for a possible White House bid, filled her book with role models who were "firsts:" Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Mary Cassatt, Amelia Earhardt - and Hutchison believes there's only one more barrier to break.

"Until we have a woman President, that's the last time we'll have a 'first,'" she proclaimed, but with a wink toward her Democratic pal Geraldine Ferraro, who ran for vice president in 1984.

Should the two senators actually run against one another in 2008, Hutchison told us that "the problem for Hillary will be not that she is a woman, but that she is a Northeastern liberal."

This could be scary... This woman is more of a right-wing thug than Bush:

1. That broad is sure full of herself
I read an interesting story about her -- she expects to be treated like royalty by her staff.

2. Without reading your links
I don't recall Kay Bailey as being as far-right as GWB. She seemed to be a moderate R when she first ran for the Senate. Just what I remember, and she's been rather undistinguished in the Senate.

5. Isn't she the one who made the comment about women should
never have been granted the right to vote?

3. yes yes, i really hope she runs
i can't wait to see the men candidates running in the primary use her being a woman as reason to attack her by saying she isn't strong and wont defend the country.

6. Interesting...
...considering she started out as a "newsreader", doing, of all things, fluff pieces on members of the glorious Bush family. Astonished? Course not...
