OK, we have to interpret what Olbermann meant by "Doris gets her oats"
at the very end of his blog. I have no idea.

Two Of Us
By John Lennon and Paul McCartney
Lead vocals: John and Paul
1970
Doris gets her oats.]

Two of us riding nowhere
Spending someone's hard earned pay
You and me Sunday driving, not arriving
On our way back home

We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

Two of us sending postcards
Writing letters, on my wall
You and me burning matches, lifting latches
On our way back home

We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing solo, In the sun
You and me chasing paper, getting nowhere
On our way back home

We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing solo, in the sun
You and me chasing paper, getting nowhere
On our way back home

We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

We're going home
Better believe it
Goodbye

3. yup.
you say: "phase two" and "doris gets her oats" just wants to pop out. Just a Beatles fan.

Of course, that's an excellent thing to be. Listening to the Beatles got me through days one and two.

2. Aren't the Words
Phase one in which Doris gets her oats? Maybe he meant this was phase one?

9. I could never fully suss that out...
Deaf Aids? I though it was 'on' the something or other...musical intrument, I figured. Doris and her oats explained itself.

Thanks for straightening that out. Where and how did you do it?

10. "Deaf aids" was a phrase used by the Beatles to describe their amps.
Basically, it's a hearing aid.

13. Sounds like they were concerned
about hearing loss.

who was kind enough to translate it from Liverpudlian into English for me :)

Before that, I had always heard it the same way that stlsaxman heard it :)

5. I believe the quote from the album "Let It Be" is...
"I dig a pigmy by Charles Dawbry on the deffy-
phase one, in which Doris gets her oats"

not sure if "Dawbry" and "deffy" are what is said by John Lennon, or what he meant by it but there youy have it.

7. FWIW, getting one's oats is Brit slang for getting off (sexually speaking)
Not sure who Doris is.

8. Doris Day
This may sound strange....but everytime I heard John say those words, I thought of Doris Day.
