Always Needing a Payoff
I'm shocked at the "but will it change the world" mentality around here. That's a bean-counter mentality. Better suited to Neocons than Liberals.

Where are the lateral thinkers? Where is the realization that things matter in subtle ways...and that winning isn't everything?

It is ok, and expected, to lose a few battles on the the way to ultimate victory.

Unless that victory is absolutely guaranteed, some around here see no use in fighting.

1. Well the truth is you need all kinds of thinkers
except defeatists perhaps.

I mean you need people who are passionate about winning and you need people who can push us to fighting on the right battle ground (although there are enough of us that we can certainly fight on many battle grounds at once).

2. Glad to see you're still feisty as ever.
And haven' changed your name.

I agree. We can't be as narrowly focused as the folks we think we're not the least bit like. We have to be the group to think outside the box, because they certainly won't.

We are but a smudge on a time line.

What would have happened if Bogie hadn't rattled off that "hill of beans" speech to Bergman?

I'm up for a fight, and having lost quite a few, I like this "live to fight again" attitude!

3. I'm just getting warmed up...
Did you see this one?

But, I'm grateful for your support. I'll meet you on the tarmac, in the rain, and we'll disappear into the darkness to lick our wounds and come out fighting again; whenever, and however, we damn well feel like it.

Deal?

5. Totally a deal! I always wanted to be Ingrid Bergman, except
for the "she's dead" part.

pretended to be Bogart.
