punctuating words and sentences. They prefer not to use the conventions of upper case, always using lower case even for the "I" pronoun. They always use "i". They will use upper case when it suits them for a particularly punctuating style. I do it myself but not in the way they do it. I have noticed this stuff but I haven't really looked at it. I think I will.

I teach English to refugees here in Norway, and most of them, from the ages of 16 to 19 years old, are from the middle East, have very little education in English other than what they've gotten after they came here, have lived in Norway 2, 3 years, and can still write better English than that. Their mistakes are mostly in syntax and orthography, with a lack of vocabulary, but they have a better grasp of the language. A language which is often the third, fourth or even fifth language they learn!
