since Generalissimo Boosh declared an end to "major combat operations" a long, long time ago and the administration was quite specific in their terms.
11/8/2004NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq - Thousands of U.S. troops, backed by armor and a stunning air barrage, attacked the toughest strongholds of Sunni insurgents in Fallujah on Monday, launching a long-awaited offensive aimed at putting an end to guerrilla control of the Sunni Muslim city.http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&e=1&u=/ap/20041108/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq10/29/2003 (more than a year earlier)Q: But the President didn't know that this would be interpreted throughout the world that we had -- that the combat mission was over, basically?
MR. McCLELLAN: The major combat operations were over. That's what the President said in his remarks. But he also went on to say that there are difficulties that remain and dangers that continue to exist, and that it's important that we stay the course and finish our work and continue to work with the Iraqi people to help them realize a better future. And that's exactly what we are doing right now.http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/10/20031029-2.htmlI'm just posting this here to remind everyone that when "Flightdeck Barbie" was taken to task on his "Mission Accomplished" banner they backpedalled by claiming what he
meant was "major combat operations were over" and there are many, many damning quotes emphasizing this in every medium taken from the very high (the preznit himself) to the very low (a toss-up...Scotty Mclellan or Dandroid Senor?).
Therefore, I feel quite confident in saying 4,000 U.S. troops, backed by armor and preceded by a withering air attack is
just another dust-up, boys...another speed bump on the way to Independence Day picnics in the park in Iraq.
