I can't take it anymore!! (another small rant)
Coworker just told me..."Americans that don't have health insurance coverage don't have it CUZ THEY DON'T WANT TO HAVE IT - I've researched it - they'd rather have a new car!" We work for a County run Community Mental Health program, for God's sake!! How can people be so damn stupid! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! :grr:

2. he has a point
most Americans by ridiculous $20,000 cars they can't afford. New cars depreciate 60% in the first four years. The money would have been better spent on a $4000 1999 escort and health insurance.

3. It's always wonderful when people generalize
My husband and I don't have healthcare and we've had the same car for almost 10 years. Please instruct on what we can give up to afford a $700+ premium each month-- Thanks!

7. I understand your point
leftyandproud. My Mom died of cancer in 1983 when I was twenty years old. I was working fulltime and had health insurance. She was ill and was not working, and did not have health insurance. We actually had someone from Blue Cross/Blue Shield come out for a home visit, but we could not afford the premiums. I was not able to add her to my insurance at work and, I cannot remember why, but she did not qualify for Medicaid. And I was driving a crappy, old Dodge Aspen at the time.....Sorry to all the Dodge folks out there!

8. People working
for minimum wage, without health insurance, aren't driving $20,000 cars.
Not the ones I know.

4. You want to hear stupid?
I have a very good friend who has breast cancer, three kids. Her husband just got fired for cause. No check, no insurance, no company car, nada. And, you ask, who did they vote for? You guessed it, Shrub. If people aren't willing to help themselves, what can we do? It boggles the mind.

5. Reminds me of the old blacks drive around in Cadillacs remark
during the sixties. It points out what is expected from the poorer class--used cars, less than, used furniture, used clothing in order to pay for health care and make insurance companies rich and richer. Drive a new car? Shame on you. If you are eating up my tax dollar in this clinic, you do not deserve to make your own choices and buy a new car. You should buy a used one.

--although most would strive for professionalism, and I am certain good work is done in community programs, there is a tendency to make judgements-not only on the client but on his/her family-usually from the less educated staff people.

6. Here's a good one for ya....
the same people that gripe because they don't want to spend ANY extra on taxes for things like healthcare and schools for their children (We Democrats have all those EXTRA taxes, dontcha know....) just voted for EXTRA taxes to move the Cowboys stadium from Irving to Arlington.

Fucking geniuses, let me tell you.
