Fox: Bill Clinton to Dems: Don't 'Whine'
NEW YORK — Former President Bill Clinton (search), in his first public remarks since the election, said Friday that President Bush's re-election offered great opportunities for both the incumbent and the Democratic Party.

"The two are not necessarily in conflict," Clinton told the annual conference of the Urban Land Institute (search), a Washington-based think tank. Democrats "shouldn't be all that discouraged" by Bush's narrow victory over U.S. Sen. John Kerry (search), he continued.

It would be a mistake, Clinton warned, for Democrats to "sit around and whine" after Tuesday's results.

Clinton, whose second term was hampered by the Monica Lewinsky scandal, said Bush should use his second four years to move the United States toward an economy less dependent on foreign oil. Such a move would shift the balance of power in the Middle East, the ex-president said in his address at a midtown Manhattan hotel.

to see the love and worship of a man become seething hatred overnight.

30. If you are referring to me, I just said that I didn't care to hear
his advice. When he was President, I was an admirer. I realize that he is intelligent, a great speaker/politician and possesses an amazing amount of charisma. But first off, he was stupid and selfish enough to chose a run of the mill act of fellatio over the best interest of America and the world. Secondly, his political utterances during the past couple of years have convinced me that he has a political personal agenda that overrides any real concern he may have for America. That's my opinion. Don't I have a right to that?
I don't hate or loath him. I just have concluded that he is an intelligent but exceptionally selfish man. He had proven that to me by his actions. (I would have voted for him in 2004 had he been Bush's opponent. Now there is someone I might hate and loath.)

31. But, he should have given himself some advice when he chose
to participate in the petty sexual dalliances in his office over the best interests of America and the world. His only defense would be that he is an out of control sex addict. And if that's the case, he was a bad choice for President, not because the sex acts themselves were so wrong, it was just the poor political judgment. Any adult man on the planet knows that he has sex with a young girl, she is going to tell someone. And if you are a highly place man, it's all the more certain. Did he honestly think she'd keep quiet? If so, one would have to subtract some of his I.Q. points.

6. Sorry Bill
but please shut up.

We've lost control of both houses of congress under your two terms as president. With your carelessness, you may have cost Gore the presidency 4 years ago.

22. So true, so true.
Yes, he gave us a lot and I would much rather have him in that office than ANY Mepublican. But if he just could have managed to keep it in his pants, Gore wouldn't have felt the need to distance himself from the success of the previous 8 years, and he could have easily won in 2000.

And that's what we're doing. So many DUers keep overreacting to what Clinton said. He didn't accuse anyone of whining.

Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 02:57 PM by Kurovski
He didn't say we shouldn't kick their ass. He didn't say don't examine black boxes. I'm begining to think Clinton, Kerry, etc., are sitting back waiting for a grassroots groundswell on this issue. If they brought up voter fraud they'd get Gored. the media would turn the idea into a joke.

Or maybe they know we're all on our way to Guantanomo and just don't feel up to joining us for the ride.

Maybe he's setting up some foxers to vote for Hillary in 08!

edit: "He said It would be a MISTAKE to sit around and whine." So there you have it. DU something.

Show me one person who's "whining."

Now you can't even express what you believe to be the truth without being labelled a "whiner"? ** is an asshole and shouldn't have won!! That's whining???

Sheesh!

Maybe he's saying WE should be buying up voting machine companies and making up our own version of the swift boat liars and playing by the new rules...

15. FUCK Bill Clinton
Apparently, he told Kerry to endorse all of the anti-gay marriage ban amendments on the ballot in 11 states...including Ohio.

Basically, Bill Clinton wants complete surrender to the American Taliban...the evil, hateful motherfuckers who would cram THEIR version of morality down our throats. According to Bill, we're supposed to beg, "oh, pretty, pretty, please hatemongers, yes we do agree with you...now just vote for us, ok"?

Well, FUCK that. I am NOT going to kiss up to those hate fuckers. I am NOT going to accept that. Either you're FOR full equality for ALL Ameircans, regardless of sexual orientation...or you're a hate filled bigot. No ambiguity, no shades of gray, no "pragmatism"...that is non-negotiable. It's black and white.

So, fuck those people who would surrender to the American Taliban. And fuck Bill Clinton.

20. Well that finally proves it - I liked Clinton because
Republicans are insane. Through all the things I disagreed with him on. Bombing Serbia (ask me why), welfare reform, his numerous compromises with the Republicans on all kinds of issues. Bill you stemmed the flow of self-righteous Republicanism for a while, now step aside and let new leaders lead.

I offended me the first time I read it, but basically he's saying for us to get up, move, and do something now to fight back rather than just sitting and talking.

He's to Republican-Lite for me, so I just think he needs 2 shut the fuck up. I cant take this anymore, this is a guy who supported Chimpy's decision to go war with Iraq. I'm sorry but he's one of those spineless, gutless, DLC "moderates" who I cannot stand!! I'm just very frustrated with these type Dems who won't stand up for any principal's.

25. Hey Bill Clinton! Suck my big white cock!
Where were you, Clinton, as the BBV machines were being installed for use in 2004?

I mean, BEFORE you were getting open heart surgery.

Where the fuck were you? Where were the rest of the Democrats? We fucking tried to tell you that this was the biggest threat to democracy and that it DIDN'T MATTER if we ran JESUS FUCKING CHRIST for president, they could STEAL THE VOTES.

Here's your party, Bill Clinton. Fuck off.

33. How could they not apply to all of us. His poor judgment in the
White House applied to all of us by effecting the outcome of the 2000
election. You could say that 100,000 Iraqis died because of his selfish decisions. It's taken me this long to fully realize the impact of his ridiculous acts of endangerment. I don't disapprove of some recreational sex play, but not when thousands of lives are in the balance.
