Why do some still believe Bush didn't cheat with this election?
He lied to Congress multiple times. He lied to his own party about the cost of the Medicare bill. He lied to the people of America about Iraq. They outed an undercover CIA agent. They ignored abuse at Abu Ghraib. Look what they did to Richard Clarke! Look what they did to everyone who had a problem with them!! They now have Porter Goss scrubbing names from the CIA report on 9/11!!

After all this, Why the hell on God's green earth do we trust him not to tamper with the election results?!? Do we suddenly trust that his cabal is going to be honest with this election? Do you know how easy it is to commit voter fraud? It's there, alright. What kind of fascist dictatorship would let the simple voice of the people bring them down?! If Bush was gonna do all that he did, yet still run a fair election afterwards, I don't believe it.

To hell with all you "tin foil hat" accusers. I will not bury my head in the sand for this charade!

If the Russian president was down in the polls beforehand, presumably doomed after exit polls were taken, pundits and stock market traders were already betting on an opposition win, other world leaders (Blair) went to bed thinking the opposition won, and the ruling party looked dejected for the second time in four years, only to miraculously come from behind and win by 3% nationally and claim a mandate, Would you believe the election was fair?!?!

This election was stolen, and we are going to unite and help prove it!!!

2. They know we will wimp out and try to get along

Protests in the streets, let the people be heard!

It must be a 21st Century version of Martin L. King 's March Days.

It must be solemn and we must be willing to march in the Red States.

Remember that King took his message to the enemy for the world to see the injustice.

If we march in New York we are preaching to the choir.

Let the Rednecks come out from under their white sheets. It has got to be dramatic.

3. Yes, we really need to do this.
Especially this summer when students have more time. But maybe this winter, too.

15. Where we need to march is on the election offices affected by fraud
And demand they chuck those machines, now!

Not to mention the occupied city of Washington DC.

4. Johnny I don't trust Bush/Rove for a minute
I think some are ignorant to what's going on as far as BBV etc. Many who only look to the networks or major news papers don't hear about the things we who seek other sorces hear about.

There has been a famine in the land when it comes to real investigative journalism as far as mainstream media goes.

5. Not one of us trusts them
because their credility is shit, but that's different than having EVIDENCE of their treason on this particular question.

7. There was cheating. Point taken. Now what?
Did the cheating affect the final outcome of the election? Possibly.
Was Gore elected in 2000? Probably.

And in the end, GWB is still in the White House. Being pragmatic, I think the best we can hope from this debacle is to impeach. Ironic. Impeaching a never-elected two-term president.

Sad commentary on democracy, isn't it? And this is the prize we hope to bring to the Iraqis at the end of the blood-letting.

Again, ironic.

On the up side, uncovering this now may effect a fairer election in 2006 and 2008.

Does anybody else have a more optimistic take on this? I would be happy to entertain more positive outcomes.

12. Offer me some God damned proof
I don't like Bush anymore than you. But if I'm going to stand with you I have to believe you're right. The election results were within the margin of error.

I believe Bush did a better job at rallying his base. The day before the Washington primary I recieved a recorded call from John Kerry encouraging me to vote. On the day of the election I had two messages from Republican candidates reminding me it was election day. I recieved no calls from any Democratic candidate.

I certainly hope so. But to believe that Bush wouldn't try stealing this election is like asking a cobra not to bite you. It's not in their nature. They stole 2000. Why would they not steal 2004, when their power has been consolidated, and they have been in power for 4 years? It's unreasonable to think that they haven't.

14. because I watched the polls...
while the fundie preachers arrived with their church members and asked for instructions on how to vote straight party. I have no clue what happened in other states, but I know exactly what happened here. Maybe pursuing 'the election was stolen' is constructive for some parts of the country, but where I live the election was lost because of religious extremism. My focus has to be on finding a way to neutralize the self-rightous.
