Will...it's seriously time that you up and retire. Whatever credibility you may have had has diminished to negative zero. Will...you're not talking to your old boss Nixon....You're talking to yourself. This is exactly how you feel about your squatter in chief so quit with your little head fakes.

Mr. Safire...do you live in the real world or have you gone the way of Raygun Reagan and completely lost your senses! This is by far the worst piece of trash that you have ever written and you will go down with it...mark my words. You sir are nothing but a worthless fucking HO!

1. President Bush's approval rating HASN'T nose-dived?
Someone help me here...isn't down 12 pts in the last two months? I'd consider that a nosedive, a tailspin, MAYDAY, SOS, call the Coast Guard...

typical Rethug stratagem. Just lie and say the opposite is true.

2. I don't know what's sadder
the fact this idiot is "channeling" or the fact that he thinks Iraq is still a "popular war".

3. Well, he used to be a speechwriter in RMN's White House...
...He's the guy who put the words "nattering nabobs of negativism" in Spiro Agnew's mouth.

4. Safire displayed what a total whore he is on Meet the Press
He has called Clinton a "congenital liar". On M the P, after sneering at Lautenburg for using the word "inciteful", he excuses Bush's "bring 'em on" as "any presidents words are always blown way out of proportion". He makes me sick! I don't understand why the NYT still carries a man so intellectually dishonest.

6. Why the NYT carries someone so intellectually dishonest -
It's because the NYT is intellectually dishonest, itself. Safire is much closer to the NYT editorial position than Krugman or Herbert. MOST of the Times' columnists are outrageous whores (Friedman being more disgusting than Safire, because at least Safire doesn't pretend to be something other than the rightwinger he is). Again & again, the NYT has propped Bush up, leapt to his defense when various scandals (Enron, 9-11 investigation, missing WMD, Calif energy ripoff) have threatened. Their "news" coverage includes the likes of Judith Miller, "embedded" reporter. They constantly frontpage stuff like David Rosenbaum asking the question (June 22) "Did the President speak untruthfully (AKA "Lie")?" -- only to answer the question in the top 5 sentences by assuring everyone that "No, of course, a careful review shows the president didn't really lie." (Not an exact quote).

7. Nothing at all new for Safire..
This man is Coulter without the incendiary rhetoric.

The man is the Radical right's voice in the NYT, which has lost the most credibility with me, and that is including CNN.

Like Coulter, read Safire for laughs.

8. A lightweight
Safire's been doing that for years. He can't get over his love affair with Tricky Dick. I think he's done the same thing with Yeltsin and Putin. He can't get over that the cold war is over.

As a columnist, he's a total lightweight. Always has been.

10. Bucking the Trend
I hate to say this but I actually thought it was pretty funny. But then again I've always liked Saffire more than almost all other conservatives writers (whom I find myself reading to get info for the website). I mean I disagree with his politics, sure, but when you look at who is likely to replace him down the road . . . well there are a lot worse options out there.
