2. I need some time
It still feels too raw. I hope I can get there. Right now, I just don't know.

4. I've only accepted the election result about 82% now
It will take a few more days to get to 100%, and then several weeks or months to be ready to fight again. I'll keep coming here and listening to Air America for support. This has really kicked me in the stomach.

5. Get a move on...
We don't have one moment to lose here. The Republican party has worked for four straight years to get Bush re-instated. We only had a few months for Kerry. This process isn't about just putting up a challenger, its about building a party. This NEVER stops, and now is no exception. The race is on. Will we do what it takes in 2006?

8. YES, and as soon as possible!
This DU can and will be the means of getting ourselves back in focus, and getting a move on. 55,000 is a HUGE number, and a "core" of 1/10th of that, can be considered active supporters. We al know each other pretty well by now and many here have provided each other with valuable info and resources ... a shoulder to lean on or cry on as needed. To DESTROY this group, in wailing despair or self-destructive fingerpointing, would be something we'd never forgive ourselves for, in days to come.

We speak for not only half of our country, but for most of the rest of the world. Let's figure out how we can bring DU into a more cohesive group, and with an agenda. An idea just occurred to me ... a means of identifying ourselves in public ... a well-designed and distinctive DU lapel button. I have 3 DU bumperstickers stashed away somewhere, but NO bumper to stick them onto. But I'm rarely without something that could function as a lapel.

10. No time to waste.
I was in the "screw everything" stage last night and early this morning. Then shifted into a kick-self-repeatedly stage ... woulda/shouda/coulda done more, why didn't I say this, why didn't I do that ... and that shifted over into asking myself "What did you learn from this?" And the answer is, whatever I thought I was doing to help, there could have been more. The answer is to never forget how deceitful and vicious the rethugs have been, and to have no qualms about doing whatever it takes in the face of all opposition. Sure, I could wallow in guilt, but guilt isn't an especially powerful motivator. Anger is, though, and the sense of injustice, of wrongs that need to be put right. And then the ideas started coming to me. What can we do for payback? Answer: there's a lot we can do. A lot of ideas here on this forum already. Little steps, to build into a - dare I even use this word? - landslide. I'm wounded and bleeding, but ready to plunge back into the fray. Perhaps more so than ever before.

11. I am ready to start fighting for what is right now
This doesn't change anything. We were all willing to fight before the election, and we should all be willing to fight now. It is already harder becuase Bush will be fighting against the good of the people, and if anyone gives up it will become even harder. Why are you more willing to fight with Kerry with you? Now that it is a more difficult battle, I am more resolved than I was.

13. If the majority of ..
.... this country cannot see that the right has no answers and only makes problems for Americans, well, I give up.

If a man as thoroughly mediocre and low as Bush* can get re-elected after all the shit he's done - what can I ever do to change that?

We live in a country full of people basking in a false glory that is neither theirs or even America's any more. Over the next decade or two, the ones still here will live to see America on its knees, brought down by forces that are in plain daylight but will not be acknowledged.

Those who voted for idiocy can blame themselves.

14. Kerry is a good man but Bush has killed over 1,000 of our boys
and girls, any one of which, but for the grace of our Lord, could have been my own flesh and blood. Bush's friend at Exxon may profit from Iraqi oil, but he has killed over 100,000 innocent civilians, mostly children and women. Their blood is on OUR hands. I will NEVER forget. I will NEVER forgive. I will NEVER seek to unify my country with this evil. We as Americans do not deserve to HEAL at the expense of innocent blood for profit. No I am not ready to move forward, and I hope I never am.

16. Ready and Rarin' to go
I already sent a pep-talk e-mail to my friends. Skinner, DU really helped me get my anger and disappointment out of my system. It's great to be here. Thanks for keeping this site open.

Do you realize what we did? Although Bush pasted the liberal label all over Kerry, he nearly won in the official count and may have actually won, had all votes been counted fairly. That's amazing, especially when you think about how Dukakis, the last liberal from Massachusetts fared. We need to keep telling people how corrupt, incompetent and dishonest the Bush administration is.
