I'm a Democratic ward chairman in Ohio. I've been going through the volunteer roster compiled by the Kerry campaign for use in my ward yesterday, and I've found fifty volunteers who live in the ward, but aren't members of our Democratic Ward Club. Some of them live in precincts that currently don't have a Precinct Executive. I'm going to be making calls this evening to thank these people for their service, and to ask them to remain engaged -- and to become even more involved with the Democratic Party.
We lost and I'm pissed off. Pissed off enough to redouble my efforts to build a Democratic Party that will represent the hopes and aspirations of working men and women in this country. I'm so pissed off that I'm going to spend the next four years building up the organization in my precinct and in my ward. I'm going to work like hell for local candidates in 2005, in 2006, and in 2007 to critically weaken the Republican Party machine in Ohio so that when 2008 rolls around, they won't be able to steamroller school kids and the elderly with their rhetoric and lies.
I've had an hour to agonize for Kerry conceding the election, and now I'm going to starting working.
The 2008 Campaign begins today...
