17. too soon for Obama
Let's see how he does as a Senator first. I do believe that he will be great, but let's give him some time.

4. This is pathetic!
Kerry is two-faced. I blinked and agreed to follow him, after knowing he and the DNC screwed Dean, the real messager of the people....

I think Edwards is pisst too!

6. The answer is NOT to go ever farther left. The Dems will never win
without incorporating the values of middle America.

We can be far left, and continue to lose. Or we can move to the center, and win back some states.

Can't you see that? That huge red area in MOST of the states of the U.S.? They simply will not vote far left. Heck, I'd even have to think twice about it, and I'm liberal!

8. We just incorporated "their" values, and we lost again.
Did you notice? We did stand up for their values.

They've simply won the propaganda war.

14. Dean isn't to the left of Kerry.
That was a meme used by Kerry, Gep, etc during the primaries.

19. Do you think Dean is further left then Kerry?
On a lot of issues he is not.

I think the question is backbone. If you will stand and fight hard on your beliefs, more might just follow.

As far as all those red states, the party has given up on too many of them. We need to fight everywhere, every election if we want a shot at retaking the White House and Congress. It's what the repugs did after 1964; now we need to do it too.

21. Dean was at odds with the party establishment
He had to be destroyed.

Kerry lost because his centrism prevented an all-out assault on neo-con policy-- he was compromised by his triangulating tactics and his effectiveness was muddled by lack of clarity.

Can't figure out how Bush won? How did Kerry win the primaries?

9. Now, maybe Democrats can follow the example of
Dean's vision. Fiengold and Obama, both ran as anti-war candidates and won REAL BIG....had a clearly defined message with passion. They did not play it safe.

Dean will not come out now.....at this time but we can all take a look at the Democracy for America group and get moving on fixing tomorrow.

24. And I'd much rather lose with someone who gets the TRUTH out
than with someone who tries to have it both ways, and concedes without a fight.

I am SO there with Dean in '08. SO there you can't believe it.

10. If DLC didn't topload primaries to Iowa & NH we would have had Dean
Fuck, I live in NJ and nobody from NJ, Ca, NY, Ill or any of the other blue states have squat to say about the nominee, just some "folks" from the wheatfields and a bunch of Yankees sitting around pot bellied stoves and waiting for the ice to melt pick our nominee. How fucked up is that?

Cheers,

12. Kerry attacked Bush as strongly as Dean did earlier and lost
Kerry even borrowed Dean's exact attacks.
Kerry basically called Bush a liar repeatedly.

It didn't work.

Why?
Bush had built too strong a positive persona with enough people.
Because the Iraq war was not perceived as important enough.
Media laziness and manipulation.
Nasty negative advertizing.

In this election cycle, we needed someone who was as critical as Dean,
with a born-again background, a military background, from a Southern state. We actually had such a person, he was just too old: Jimmy Carter.

Next time, it is highly likely we'll need someone like this again.
I'm not sure who though.
