Form letter response from ChiTrib- my cancellation
After the Chicago Tribune endorsed the GOP candidate for president, I called, wrote, e-mailed to complain, then, putting my money where my big mouth was, I cancelled my subscription. Better than my foot.

Today, I got a FORM LETTER response from the chief editor, Anne Marie Lipinski. Some of the doozies:

"Last Sunday, the editorial page of the Tribune did what it long has done: it delivered the judgment of the newspaper as a citizen fo the community, not in a prermptory way, but as a reasoned argument."

and

"I respect and understand your disagreement with us and we welcome hearing such feedback from you and other readers so that we are better informed."

Had they not mispelled my name, I may have even taken them up on their offer to resubscribe. However, they weren't even careful enough to do that right.

What this tells us -> They had so many recent cancellations, that they were forced to go fishing for more subscribers. The falling circulation rates came home to roost last week. 4.5% down from the previous quarter, many of those directly related to their endorsement of Bush. Given that their ad revenue takes a direct hit from lower subscription numbers, they are hurting where it counts.

When I finish my response, I'll post it here.
