Freeper MADness
There are some days I notice this fact more than others, but: In general (broad, brush-stroke statement here) the freepers/repugs are just mean, cruel, amazingly hypocritical , not nice people.

My latest case in point: My brother in law was here visiting (A repug. He's actually one of only two repubs I know that believe socially and morally in everything the dems stand for, but *thinks* he's repub... and, yes, I've pointed that fact out to him) Anyway, he saw me sitting here reading posts and bringing up discussion points, and looking up information to verify, and basically he asked me about it. So (yeah, I know), I hooked him up to the freeper site, thinking he could find a place to listen and think and compare/contrast to this site which he'd been reading over my shoulder....

Get this: He registers with the freeps so he can make a comment on the discussion site. For whatever reason the site shows his registration date as the next day. No biggie, we guessed. And He posts. He comments on something that is of concern to him about repug ad dollars being spent... and he got flamed big time. What he said didn't *completely* follow the repukes, apparently, but brought up some very viable and points of concern to people in all parties.

But he got flamed... called a troll for not being a big poster and a new registrant. It was actually really strange. The positive effect (I guess) of it all is that I believe he is *seriously* questioning his beliefs as a repuke and actually UNDERSTANDING that we dems do give a crap about a lot of things.

He actually got passionate for a moment or two, bcuz it really bothered him that he was flamed by "his own", as it were.

For me, well, it just reaffirmed my concern about how cruel the freepers really can be (again, broad statement, I know)... and I hope that when things politically aren't looking good for my side, I can remember this and not be so nasty. It's nice knowing we're all "good people" here.

sometimes we have disagreements here, like the time i tried to defend Reagan but for a few individuals who flamed me I got info and links to sites that changed my mind or at least informed me of my ignorance

I know it's common knowledge... It Probably bugged me cuz it was my family that was facing their ignorance.

5. Don't want to burst your bubble
But the same thing happened to me when I registered here. I made a huge mistake in questioning Michael Moore, even though I did it in a civil and respectful manner. I think it has more to do with the election than anything else. Republicans can be nice people, they're just greedy and portentious (if you can imagine a greedy portentious person being nice).
