Is it a perfect fit? An ignorant, arrogant, bully of a leader for an
Ignorant, arrogant, bullying nation of people? Is there any denying that the clueless, reckless, cowardly, self-centered and vicious dunce we currently have residing in the White House, far more accurately represents America today than do brilliant, enlightened type individuals such as Bill Clinton, John Kerry, or John Kennedy - individuals who actually possess, in addition to a considerable intellect, a genuine and sincere calling for public service?

In addition to the damage done by our shameless corporate whore press - is this not really the crux of our problem? Sure, Bush sucks big time - but doesn't America now suck? Look around - our culture, our education, our health care, our environment, our government...it all sucks! Even our sacred constitution now sucks because it's not being followed - it's been diluted, corrupted, and trampled upon without eliciting nearly the kind of reaction one would expect when the world's greatest, most celebrated democracy was being destroyed.

I sincerely believed that once a fair number of the countless crimes committed by this outlaw administration were exposed to the public - that the American public would swiftly put an end to the Bush Administration, but THAT HASN'T HAPPENED (though many crimes have been revealed) - and we somehow now have what appears to be a CLOSE presidential race on our hands!! How can it possibly be a race at all? BushCo is the worst administration in American history. So why hasn't America firmly rejected this gang of incompetent and obviously evil thugs? NONE of us here ever bought BushCo's fascist program for a second, yet, evidently, about half of the American people are either (a) too ignorant to notice that their country is being transformed into a fascist, militaristic aggressor nation; (b) don't mind or care if it is, or (c) actually approve of transformation - and like being a lawless, fascist, militaristic aggressor nation.

An ignorant, arrogant, self-serving bully may be able to accomplish many things - but laying claim to being the greatest nation on earth certainly isn't one of them! The sad truth is, today America sucks - and here's the proof: Almost half of Americans are Repukes!

1. Good post
but I blame the Religious right. If Bush* did not have the churches, he would be done. And of course with their planned 9/11 attack - he's got all the scared little pussies voting for him too.

4. No, America doesn't suck.
Half the people are either misguided or misguiding. We've had some much divisive politics over the last four years, that the country is split, and some of its people just aren't paying attention.

9. Rather, the ideology of half of America sucks.
Look, America's the greatest country in the world. We're just in a hiccup right now.

7. Elementary, my dear Penguin
Nah. The US people are still the same mixed stew of good guys and bad guys that we always were. The nation is based on the Constitution but had to fight a civil war to end slavery and then had to go through the Civil Rights battles to get blacks something approximating the rights white folks enjoy as their birthright. Yet, we did it.

Right now we've suffered under a really rotten regime (thanks loads, Ralph!) because the American public was lulled into complacency by the prosperity of the CLinton years, and over five decades in which the US was the top gun in the world. People could worry about stuff like abortion, and so on, because they had food on their tables, a job to go to, and the possibility of a better life for their kids. They thought they could decide who could be King of the World by choosing between an aloof politician, and an amiable failure. Any number of people thought it wouldn't make much difference either way.

Well, as I ask many of my friends who were in that boat, how'd that work out for you?

So now there are a lot of people who have sipped deeply of the KoodAid, but they are not beyond salvation. First, we have to beat the Bush; then we have to take the lead in building the kind of world we want our kids to live in.

We've tried letting the dunces do it. Now comes our chance.

8. We are now, and pretty much have always been, an Oligarchy
But we do have the ability to take power from that Oligarchy. The last time that happened was in 1932, and it took the Great Depression to accomplish it.

Many many Americans are scared, VERY scared. Scared of people speaking Spanish. Scared of African Americans. Scared of Moslems. Scared of reading. It's funny that the most frightened people live in the least threatened areas of the USA - the Conservative likes to be afraid, it justifies their fetish for a "strong leader."

We have been challenged to recognize that there have been some grave injustices done in our name, and about half of us do not want to meet the challenge of rectifying these injustices or, like the Chimp, not acknowledge that ANY mistakes were made.

The HUGE problem is that the current administration refuses to acknowledge that at least half of us do not buy what he's selling. He does not try to be the President of ALL the Americans, but tries to squeak by on lies and cheating. This is why we need Kerry, so the more than half the USA (not to mention most of the World) that doesn't agree with the Chimp, can feel as though our concerns are at least getting some consideration. The other half (or so) already have the House of Representatives and may very well hold on to the Senate, so Kerry will HAVE to accomodate them.
