Kucinich just OWNS everybody on the progressive agenda
None of the other eight come close.

WASHINGTON - July 9 - Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), today, took to the House floor during debate on an education bill to challenge the budget priorities of the Administration and the Republican majority in the Congress. While all Members of Congress agree on the importance of education, it is clear that funding for education is being shortchanged by a bloated Pentagon budget.

Kucinich, Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, issued the following statement:

"We will pass this bill today, the Ready to Teach Act, and in doing so, we all agree that the country needs the federal government to spend $300 million on teacher preparation and retention. But in fact, we won't spend that much on teacher preparation and retention. The President has asked that we spend only $90 million, or 30 percent of what we today all agree is necessary. Why?

"Yesterday we passed a Defense spending bill that spends $8.9 billion on the National Missile Defense system that doesn't work, and today we will pass an education bill that, if fully funded, would work. But we won't fully fund it. ---

Sorry, but that just rules. I agree with Kucinich totally on this issue. Of course, I'm one who thinks we only need to defend the Bill of Rights and our borders.

1. Anti-Choice? / Pro-Choice?

Would we liberals believe anyone else who had an almost 100% anti-choice record and suddenly changed positions when running for president?

(Note, I support probably all of his other positions and believe that his anti-choice stance probably stemmed from conviction rather than religious obedience or political expediency).

2. Legitimate concern
But I wouldn't view Dennis to be one who chooses his positions for political advantage--if he changes his position, he means it. Of course I can't tell you what his real motivation is, but that's my guess.

3. Definitely a concern...
yet out of all the declared candidates, he seems to be the one more likely willing to listen and consider the opposing point of view.

I just can't stop being a Kucinich fan!

5. I agree with Dennis on this...

How have we come so far down the road that we would spend such an insane amount of money on some untried system for something that is a threat to us only because of our actions and not spend an equal amount on our own children...our future??

Doesn't this strike anyone else as insanely out of balance??? And no other candidates want to cut back on defense...because the current regime has threatened us into believing we are "unpatriotic" if we don't pour billions into "defense"??....again it is because of his (*'s) bragging and swaggering are we in this mess as deeply as we are...

Does this make any kind of sense??? and when we get a man who has consistently stood up to bush at every opportunity...people say he's unelectable or worse...they act like he doesn't exist....why?? deep down...don't we really want to change ?

It just shows me how crazy this world has truly become...

peace
DR

edit for clarity
