"We heard that Castro fell," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said. "I guess you'd have to check with the Cubans to find out what's broken about Mr. Castro. We, obviously, have expressed our views about what's broken in Cuba."

When asked if he wished Castro a speedy recovery, Boucher said, "No."

I don't get this continued problem the States has with Cuba. Yes, they're communist, but hardly a threat. You do business with China after all. An old man broke his knee, can't you at least be gracious? I think communism will die in Cuba when Castro dies.

2. I've never understood...
.... our Cuba policy, which has a human rights record that's no worse than our "friends" in China. I would guess the votes of anti-Castro residents in Florida might be to blame.

3. I was amazed watching (former HUD Secretary) Mel Martinez...
...in his debate the other night with Betty Castor (both running for Bob Graham's Senate seat in Florida)...Sideshow Mel went on about how Iraq was led by an evil dictator, yada, yada, had to be removed, yada yada...and all the while I'm thinking: this is from a guy who escaped Castro's regime...and not one word about Fidel!

6. I'll tell you what our leaders don't like about Cuba.
It sets an example to other South American states, showing that they can be independent of the US- even defiant of it. We've got alot of very influential people here who want cheap labor and resources from South America.
