What Does It Matter....What We Would Do Differently?
If we sat back and let what happened in 2000 to our votes, what's to stop it from happening again?

I've voted already (so did DH), but I'm wondering just what we will do if the election is stolen again??? Would you do anything different then you did in 2000? If so, what? And do you believe that it would make any difference?

2. The first thing I'm going to do different is VOTE!
Second, I'm going to pay attention to what's going on & not dismiss it like I did in 2000.

I thank this site soooooooooooooo much for educating me to the error of my previous apathetic (dangerous) ways & for getting me off my duff & activated!

As for what to do if they try to steal the election again? I'm not sure. Hubby & I talked about it the other day & I said I'm inclined to go to DC & make a stink. But really, I won't know unless faced with it.

3. I'm Just Feeling A Bit Scared..
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 11:35 AM by SudieJD
That we'll do what we did before....nothing. I wanted to do something, but there was no direction as to what I could (as an individual).

It feels a bit hopeless everytime I hear that Bush is up in the polls. I know that we shouldn't pay attention to them, but they are coming from somewhere...

4. I will not stand by & let them do it again.
I have always been somewhat political, but I have never marched, protested, written letters, made phone calls, joined meetings, and fought like I have the last 2 years.
I don't have much money, but if they try to steal this election I will sell anything I need to sell to get to where I'm need to fight. I will not sit down, I will not shut up & I damn well will not stop fighting for my country!

5. But...
Who do you write? Where do you go? With all of our rights being trampled on, how can we fight it?

6. I think we would need a physical presence at every statehouse.
as well as Washington, as well as a large force in any state with a dispute.

7. Starting At County and State Levels
would probably be the best place to start. Stay on your representative's butts and push to have every vote counted and if there are any discrepancy's - push for more legal action???

8. If it's clear the election IS being stolen...
...I will be in the streets protesting. That's what I'll be doing that's VERY different, and you would be advised to do the same rather than adopting such a fatalistic attitude.

10. Not Fatalistic...
"...I will be in the streets protesting. That's what I'll be doing that's VERY different, and you would be advised to do the same rather than adopting such a fatalistic attitude."

I'm not being "fatalistic", I'm being prepared! Running out onto a dirt road (which is what I live on, in a very tiny rural community) is not what I can do. And, running out into the road would not accomplish anything, except maybe a trip down to the police station.

I'm looking for realistic ways to fight this time and not be left holding my hat. I want to know what can be done!

12. Unfortunately, a trip to the police station
may be what is necessary this time. As a beginning. Sorry, I hate the sound of that too, but I think it's only realistic, if we want our country back.

9. Honestly, I didn't realize how dangerous Bush would be in 2000
But, now, I understand what a dangerous fucking moron Bush is, I understand in what direction he wants to take this country (backwards), I sense fascism and dictatorship on the horizon, and I realize that these asshole neocons are playing for keeps.

11. Exactly!
They aren't "Playing Nice". I won't be surprised at anything that they do to take over this election and do more harm (maybe even ruin) this country permanently!

We need to know or have an idea or plan.

13. Get Angry
If we have a repeat of 2000, I don't think it'll take much to anger a lot of Americans. I'd keep my senses tuned to the DU, DailyKos, and other sites that revolve around community action. They'd keep us posted as to what we can do.

15. We must force our representatives to represent us.
We must not allow them to be intimidated by these criminal pieces of shit. We are the voice of the majority, and we must never again allow them to steal our country out from under us.

How? First, we vote. Then, we make sure the process is legitimate. If it is, Kerry will win by a landslide. If not, we must demand justice - first through our representatives, then through protest. If that fails, we have some grave decisions to make.
