1. It's a moot point, since he's leaving the DNC after the election.
He announced that a long time ago.

2. Well, the way he's been lately
Her certainly must recognize that it's a danger. It's the only reason I can think of as to why he's suddenly decided to start playing the firebrand.

3. Let's see... we'd punish him for success?

9. It won't be his success..............
it would be Howard Dean's and grassroots Democrats that lit a fire under his ass' victory. He blew it a long time ago as far as I'm concerned. Whatever he's doing now is more by necessity than choice.

13. No, what he did then was more out of necessity than out of choice
How quickly you forget the political climate of 2002.

4. Sadly, he'll get credit for the win and probably stay forever.
But if anybody deserves credit, it's DUMBYA, and the hordes of PO'd activist democrats. (Not that Kerry doesn't deserve some credit...)

5. He already stated he was resigning after this
year. At least, I believe that is what I heard/read months ago.

7. Why wait?
If he had any sense of decency he'd do it now.

10. I'll never get over his treatment of Dean
He got all over Dean for staying in the primaries when Kerry became the "front runner" saying he should give up after Dean's first loss; but encouraged (as did all the party bigwigs)all the candidates to gang up on Dean when he was front runner. I have resigned myself to the dirty politics, but it still hurts. I AM supporting Kerry, but I will always BELONG to Dean.
I am not a newbie to Dem politics, either, as I started at age 15 walking door to door for JFKennedy, and have been a Dem committeewoman in the past. I resigned to make a statement about the Dems lack of spine in opposing the Iraq War.
I want an honest broker to head the DNC--is that asking too much?

11. If he wins, he enters the leftie Hall of Fame...
...having helped save not only the USA but the planet. Give the guy a break. We're in the home stretch. Not a good time to change or talk about change. I'm sure there are valid gripes about him but not now, in my terribly humble opinion.

12. The question should be
Who should replace McAuliffe?

At any rate, I think it should be Howard Dean or possibly James Carville. I want somebody who will fight tooth and nail for us and I think either Dean or Carville will do just that. We'll need a fighter for the 2006 mid-term elections, for sure.

14. Dean, yes!
I've been hoping Dean will replace McAuliffe in January. I was a Clark supporter in the primaries, but Dean has done so much to inspire our party. He was out there fighting and criticizing Bush when everyone else was scared to breathe a word about our "brave leader."

Carville? Uh uh. I will always appreciate Carville's huge role in electing Clinton. I've bought all of his books. But his attitude towards both Dean and Clark during the primaries prompted an attitude change towards him on my part. His calling Jon Stewart a "pompous ass"? Yeah, well, it's so over now whatever I thought of him before.

I don't know whether it's the TV cameras, the money, or sleeping with the enemy, but Carville is not who I thought he was. Either he's changed or I have. As little as a year ago, Carville would have been my choice to replace McAuliffe. But now there is no way I want Mary Matalin's husband in that position.

Oh, and Paul Begala can kiss my ass too.
