Fox news logic ridiculed again
As opinions clash over the US role in Iraq, there have been some interesting figures used to justify one side's position over the other. Perhaps the most interesting example of this was advanced by FoxNews earlier this week, when it said that the rate of US soldiers being killed in Iraq is minor, say, compared to the number of people who are killed in California every day. US soldiers in Iraq are dying at a rate of 1.7 per day, while there are 6.6 murders daily in California. But the problem with the argument is that there are only 150,000 US troops in Iraq, while there are 34.5 million people in California. So in fact, a US soldier in Iraq is actually 46 times more likely to be killed than a person in California.

1. If only the public would be told the truth about Fox & Iraq...
Most of the American people don't have a clue how totally, insanely innacurate faux news is.

12. Like Tyson cares about chickens.
"George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld care about the troops in the same
way that Tyson Foods cares about chickens," said Stan Goff, a retired Army master sergeant who served in the Rangers and Special Forces counter-terrorist units. His son, Jessie, is also in the Army and recently deployed to Iraq.

5. These ppl have no shame, I'm bracing myself for the argument..
That our country is safer b/c the terrorist are all converging on Iraq! Funny thing I think "useful idiots" will buy it.

6. Yes, I think at this point you could say they have ...
... negative shame - they actually thrive in the areas where shame should rule. Fox is blown off as ridiculous a lot of times, but this is a vicious corporate class ideology they're reinforcing - that people are numbers, and we can absorb x number of deaths a day - and all because it sure as hell won't be them or their kin.

7. Fox news ridiculed again
Somtimes I wonder why Democrat office holders and candidates don't boycott the Fox screws channel. They are blatant with their favoritism. There's no way the Democrat can get a unbaised interveiw on the Fox screws channel.

11. California Cops dying in line of duty, 1991-2003
166.

That's for the twelve years.

See California Peace Officer's Memorial:

http://www.camemorial.org/1991.htm (for information 1991-2000)

See the same site,

http://www.camemorial.org/2001.htm (for information 2001-2003)

As I read the descriptions, this number (166) includes both "hostile fire" and accidental (i.e., car crashes) deaths of officers in the line of duty for the state of California.

Repeat: 166, for the period 1991-2003.

13. That weasel Norm Coleman said the same thing
only he compared it the number of people killed in Washington, D.C.

This was said in the same statement in which he expressed sympathy to the family of the 2nd Minnesotan killed in Iraq (heard it in his own Elmer Fudd like voice on Minnesota Public Radio). I sent him an irate email about it, but received no response. (Perhaps I went too far when I asked how someone with his lips stuck so tightly to Bush*'s butt could get his mouth open far enough to say something so stupid and insensitive.)
