What are the citizens arrest laws in your state?
If you saw someone ripping up voter registrations would you physically intervene?

I believe in some states you are compelled to intervene.

Is personal liability in such instances a risk, & will homeowners/renters insurance cover it?

I've done it twice in Cali, the laws are good there & both times I've had no trouble (Witnesses, Clear cut, violence).

Would you do it? How informed are you on the issue?

1. I would
I am not sure what the law is though. I would probably call my wife, she's a lawyer. If I couldn't get through to her, I would call the police, or maybe one of the other lawyers in her office. But you can be sure I would do something, and it would be noisy !

2. What have you done twice?
Have you seen people ripping up registrations? Twice?

Oh my goodness, that's awful.

Or have you just done a citizen's arrest twice. I think I would be too scared to acost somebody, but I would say something.

I wish there was a place you could look under a main category like "citizens arrest" and then a sub-category for state. But usually you have to go the other way, and it's so confusing.

3. Not registrations, violence
Purse snatch where the kid just shoved a lady face first in to a rough concrete wall, wasn't gonna let that go.

Once night some guy tried to rob me with a knife during a pizza delivery, laughed, then kicked his ass.

Both were young white males, about 17 & 22 if I remember correctly.

4. Oh yea,
Once chased a burgler out of my downstairs neighbors apartment with the only stick I could find on short notice, the cloths hanger rod from the coat closet.

That F*cker was fast, He had a block on me when I gave up. Not that I look for trouble or anything.
