Why the fuck are social democrats and social liberals preferencing neo-Nazis over the left-libertarian Greens in Australia's Senate election?

If you're not straight, not Christian, or not White and you live in Australia, you'd better be on high alert, as the far-right Family First (For those, like myself, who are more well-versed in North American than Australia, think of a party where everybody is more right-wing and more theocracy-minded than Jerry Falwell, and you'll understand just how bad this situation could be.) may be holding the balance of power in the Senate, thanks to the actions of a far-right cabal that has taken over the Aussie Democrats (social liberal party) and Labour (social democratic on paper, centrist in policy) in some states, getting the parties to preference fascist Family First over the left-libertarian Greens, a traditional ally of the two parties.

I hope Mr. Latham is happy that he may have turned Australia into a giant concentration camp for thousands of people.

These people (if they are indeed worthy of being afforded the dignity of humanity) make Austria's Joerg Haider look like an anarcho-socialist.

And apparently, the higher-ups in Labour (part of a fascist infiltration of the party) seem to think it'll be easier to work with the neo-Nazis than with the Greens.

Apparently Family First is almost guaranteed one seat and has an outside chance of picking up as many as two more:

True believers: Pray for an absolutely majority for the centre-right Coalition in the Senate or (preferrably) for the Greens, Democrats, and Labour to somehow cobble together enough seats to run it, even if whoever's responsible for this fascist take over of Labour deserves the fucking guillotine.

1. I don't know how to break this to you, but. . . . .
. . .Australia began as a continent-sized prison camp, and no matter how cool (or not cool) it now is, it was originally invaded and occupied by some of the worst of British society and their keepers. Never mind that it was already occupied by indigenous, and, oh-my-god BROWN, people. Our history isn't a whole lot better, except that we were colonized by less prisoners and more indentured servants, and our current political situation isn't much of an improvement. OK, I've said enough. . .

2. Ya but...
Everybody except the Greens are talking out of their asses when they try "reaching out" to the Aboriginals in Australia.

4. OK, this is not helping!
We can sit here and play the blame game and then see our asses handed to us in 2007 too, or we can work out a way to fight this menace.

I am willing to bet good money that many people voted for the Family First Party because they thought it sounded like a nice party with nice policies, who would renounce their vote if they were to find out its true agenda. My own boss was absolutely horrified yesterday when she found out what they really stand for.

While I am not forgiving the ALP and the Dems for giving FF preferences, I do realise they had their eye on the prize and didn't think of the consequences of it backfiring on them. I do hope they learn their lesson.

I admiore your passion, but hope you don't let it make you give up. We need that passion from Australians to help expose the truth and depose those who would abuse us. The next election will about about grassroots - it needs to be or the Coalition will win again. I personally am going to dedicate a lot more of my time to seeing the government fall next election. Alas, I have the flu at the moment and thus am unable to do much, but when I have recovered health I am going to figure out a way to organise a grassroots level pre-election, anti-Coalition campaign.

The 2007 election started on Sunday.
