Damn Bush and this Iraqi war!! Nephew home from Iraq.
My nephew just returned to the states from Iraq. Lost five men in his outfit. He had to fly to Calif from Iraq but he lives in VA. So now he has to pay his own way home from CA. Go figure. He is physically and mentally fatigued, suffering from seeing five of his friends killed in explosion, sick and has to make his own arrangements to get home. Why didn't they fly him to a much nearer base? Hell, NC would have been better than CA.

4. We DUers should do USO-like "greets" for guys like this.
We could meet them at the airport and offer our support. (Just a random thought, remembering my own 'coming home.')

5. My nephew's in Bagdad right now
He's serving in the 1st Cav, out of Fort Bragg, and he's been over there for close to a year now.

So far Todd's been okay, but every day we dread the possibility that he'll be killed or wounded... although of course, we can already tell that this deployment is taking its toll on him, psychologically, just from the tone of his letters.

How our leaders can do this to our troops is beyond me.

6. Update on nephew's return: His brother, stationed in Kuwait wrote home
and his letter was just received this afternoon. I just got off the phone with his mom (my sister). The son in Kuwait tells many, many tales about life in Kuwait but the thing that stuns him the most is this: Kuwaitis are ALL born into wealth. No Kuwaiti has to work. They get money every month (he is not sure how the banking or accounts work) but they all get paid and do not work. 99% of the workers are imported from outside of Kuwait. The 1% left are not really working but overseeing the foreign workers. One Kuwait that he talked to (made him angry but he couldn't show it) said that Kuwaitis did not have to work or fight. "We even bought the US military to do our fighting when Saddam attacked us. It's very easy to get people to do what you want when you are very rich."

Now how is that for rank arrogance? But I remember seeing a documentary right after Desert Storm about the members of the Kuwaiti royals partying in FL while our men and women were over there fighting against Saddam's troops.

8. Abu Dhabi (the largest emirate in the UAE) is pretty much the same.
Over 65% of the 3.13 million inhabitants of Abu Dhabi are "non-nationals" ... and those are the people who do the work.

9. I have an idea. Call your local Republican headquarters and ask
them if this is an example of how the Republican administration is supporting our troops. You probably at some time in the not too distant past were an undecided or had probably even supported this war, (I could be wrong). Anyway it should help you to see some action rather quickly. Contact Reps running in your area, call National Headquarters.

Magic just might happen. If not happens quickly then start making calls to Vets organizations and to your congress critters. Don't fail to call the media on this.
