2. Lots of channels...they are nationwide.
Ignore them. That's what to do. If w publicize it too much, more people will see it.

11. More people are going to see it when they advertise it away
So its either Do or Die and I'm proud people have taken the first choice.

3. They should lose their license IMMEDIATELY.
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 11:50 AM by TahitiNut
This is appalling. Using the public's airwaves to pander to an overtly extremist poltical agenda is as anti-American as I've ever seen.

4. Email FCC Commissioner Michael Copps immediately!
I just did, urging him for push for an immediate review of Sinclair's license, for failing to operate in the public interest.

You can find his email by just doing a quick search for his name, and then clicking on his FCC page.

For those who don't know, Commissioner Copps is the one who went around the country at his own expense to raise awareness over the proposed media deregulation pushed by Michael Powell.

5. OH the horror
someone we don't agree with exercising their right to free speech. The best thing is for us not to lower ourselves to the level of the freepers and just ignore this thing. Let the freepers masterbate to the propaganda fest.

20. Actually, ignoring it might not be a bad idea
but I do not agree with you about their right to free speech. These are public airwaves that belong to all of us. They are not exercising their right to free speech, they are squashing it. If we do not have free airwaves that belong to everyone, for everyone's interests and not just those of a certain political persuasion, then we do not have free speech.

But, I'm afraid that causing too much of a ruckus will be giving this too much publicity and more people will watch. But, it is a damned if we do, and damned if we don't position to be in. I really don't know which way is the best way to go about it.

22. I fail to see how this is squashing free speech
They are putting out a point of view that a number of Americans have whether we like it or not. One thing that really bugs me about both sides is how we tend to try to ban anything we disagree with. What we can do is throw F-911 parties while they are broadcasting that garbage.

23. It is.
It isn't about quashing a point of view. It is about not allowing these corporations that are using OUR pubic airwaves to campaign for a president. It is no more squashing free speech than insisting on implementing rules about campaigning and electioneering and contribution limits.

21. How is this about the right to free speech?
If it was a network that was airing it, its affiliates could choose whether or not to air it - as Sinclair did when it banned the ABC Nightline show that honored the Americans who have died in Iraq. But there is no choice here. It's blackmail. Sinclair stations must air propaganda or look for another owner.

Sinclair's move also breaks the (self-imposed?) rule the networks follow about broadcasting politicized content so close to the election, as CBS's 60 Minutes did when they declined to air a story critical of Bush's reasons for invading Iraq.

If the creators of content are thus regulated, so should be the distributors of content.

fully expected them to twist and distort to their own greedy ends.

NOTHING.
they have been saving up the very perversions of reality and facts that we have talked about for the last two years.

Kerry supporters will not even watch. 'undecideds' were going to be hit with this garbage at this point, one way or another.

some orgs have long been working on the legalities of sinclair's position, and we will hear more from them on this.

but meanwhile, there are far more urgent matters we must tend to.

if you have time and strength to act on this matter, please consider turning that time and energy toward writing lttes to (even media blast) newspapers in swing states, perhaps talking up the truth about what sinclair mob is about to deform.

educate people:
veterans against the war were (ARE) HEROES! i was there. i saw them turn the tide on that tragedy back then! THIS COUNTRY HAS RECOGNIZED THE TRUTH OF WHAT THOSE SOLDIERS AND ANTIWAR ACTIVISTS WERE SAYING!! SHOUT THAT!!
as hard as we worked to waken people to the dreadful immense errors and horrors of Vietnam, nothing, i mean NOTHING mattered like hearing it from the mouths of those men who had been there! it was communication MAGIC - CULTURAL ENLIGHTENMENT!!
no one BUT those who were there could be heard, either.

so, be talking up their heroism, the likes of which no lazy freeper or coward propagandist can ever even come NEAR GRASPING!!

focus on those who really care what is right and just, and are looking for the knowledge that will tell them about Kerry and his heroism.

and not just that great courage under battle fire, but also before the mob in massachusetts, the mob in washington and the tyrannies involved in iran/contra...

and so on.

let freepers waste all that money and giggles at their own self-amusement on other freepers.

can you even imagine how delighted sinclair is that we are pouring this invaluable time into trying to stop them this way (with petitions that they proved they do not listen to, and full days and days raging about it)?

and please write your thoughts, your SUGGESTIONS FOR HOW TO ADDRESS THIS COUNTRY in face of this, to Kerry and Team!

17. i must add to this, because sinclair is also focussing
on Kerry testifying before congress.

i have known many vets who still participate in various support groups and/or receive treatment for what later came to be known as post-traumatic states, known back then as vietnam syndromes. almost every one of them has expressed that it was only thanks to each others' courage to open up about things they witnessed and were ordered to do, that they have survived at all. they know the courage it takes.

and they know the dread of living without the understanding ONLY others who were there have. that is who Kerry is to them.

it is called compassion. it is maturity.

it is missing in those attacking Kerry and other vets courageous enough to "speak truth to power."

peace...

15. and it doesn't matter if you do or don't own their Stock
Contact them & tell them you are going to dump their stock.

It takes time & $ for them to determine if you are an actual stock holder.

Go get them. If they aren't Anti American I don't know what is.

Move on can throw a movie together with all of Bush's failings and let the viewer see both sides of the coin. So could any Hollywood company...Go from Neil,AWOL,EVERYTHING ! Talking out of both sides of his mouth..pandering his religion and his broken promises. It is do able !

24. Short the stock
If you think the show is going to destroy value, then short the stock. Make some money on it. Put it to good use.
