Bush came across as defensive and flippant
sorry but that doesn't cut it when over a 1065 men and women have lost their lives.

His silly jokes and hunched shoulders made him all the more pathetic.

5. he was blinking 200 bpm
-- blinks per minute -- whenever the camera showed him listening to Kerry speak. That just didn't look good at all.

3. I thought so, too
I thought he came across like an inarticulate, alternately cocky and angry clown who was also lying his ass off, but the TV people are saying how well he did.

4. I felt as though I was being yelled at.
He came on so strong, I think, to avoid the mess he made last Thursday. Waving that left hand around like he was gonna try a one-armed take off or something. Sticking his neck out, face forward, chin up, and what was with all that blinking? Sitting there, when he did sit still, chin up, face glued on, lots of blinking. Kerry looked calmer in reaction shots, almost as though he were a dad watching his kid act up.

I think bush was trying to be forceful. Look like a with-it, in-command, happening dude. Tried to be folksy and jokesy. I saw a few people behind him at various stages - smiling. Wondered what that meant. Trying to be Oprah, maybe.

He did a LOT of that annoying half-smile that he uses when he's trying to ram home a point - showing how much sense it makes or how correct and cut-through-the-bullshit he is. It's always felt to me like he's trying to sell me a used car whose odometer he knows has been tampered with. Just makes me uncomfortable.

7. He did better than the 1st debate
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 11:49 PM by GinaMaria
PBS commentator said something like "Well this time the president showed up for the debate" LOL. He was soooo rude to Charlie Gibson and made himself look terrible. What is wrong with his back? He's very hunched.

I'll look on one of the Internets for the answer
