13. Alexander Downer - congenital idiot.
There is no way he could ever have got where he is if his family
wasn't extremely well-connected politically.

Does he remind you of someone else?

3. I'm not going to vote tomorrow because
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 11:47 PM by the Kelly Gang
I did a postal vote a week ago for MARK LATHAM in the Reps and the GREENS in the Senate.

I have a good feeling here..I think Labor will get over the line and the Greens hold the balance in the Upper House.
I've heard too many middle class North Shore type Liberals talk with absolute disgust about the lying rodent..
I think also Labor has impressed everyone with their defence credentials.
Fortunately that Packer Piglet Jamie came out telling a business conference that Howard deserves to win..these corporate thugs actually think the ordinary punter takes their opinion as gospel.

6. Australia Vote
I believe that SMH/TA took a poll and that Mr Latham is way ahead in it.

Hopefully, ALP will win it and withdraw from Iraq thereby reducing Bush's imperialistic forces.

IMPEACH BUSH AND ALL OF HIS DEMONIC ALLIES!

7. fingers crossed
I'll be handing outr how to vote cards for the Greens from 6am - 6pm and then probably doing some scrutineering so there's no big secret where my votes going, Latham isn't that far away from Howard but there are enough differences to cheer if he gets over the line.

Just make sure no-one you know votes family first thinking they're a nice harmless bunch of suburban parents...Assemby of God fundie nutbags...Danny bloody Naliah is their Victorian senate candidate - the guy who think brothels, bottleshop and mosques and temples are satan's love club, even the QLD National's think they're a bunch of headcases and THAT's saying something

9. I am also Green at heart, and they get my Senate vote every time.
In our electorate, Tony Abbott will get in again - looking at the
figures for 2000, he got 51%+, so I think it's important to give
the first vote to Labor in this case, rather than Green with 1st
preference going to Labor. Last time we had a great Independent in
Peter McDonald, but he's not challenging this time.

We have a Family First person sitting - that would be from Christian
City Church nearby - they haven't been around long, but they're
very well connected to all the right-wing people and have big money.
Howard opened their new church hall recently, so that tells us all
we need to know about them.

10. Family First scare me...
These guys have been politically slick coming in half way through the election and as you say well connected through the Assemblies of God...oh hang on, they denied they were connected.

Plus now news reports are posted that they advocate burning lesbians as witches....oh no hang on that was an errant volunteer.

12. Be very afraid .....
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 06:09 AM by Matilda
Following what Djinn said earlier (post #7) I checked the ABC's
electoral guide, and sure enough in some states Labor is giving
first preferences to conservatives in the senate, esp. to Family
First. Yikes!!

The Democrats are worse - first preferences to Family First in
nearly every state. Shooting themselves in the collective foot
yet again. They're just a waste of space - move aside and let the
Greens take your places.

8. Yep!
I have stooped listening to the news, cuz I got tired of the right wing media saying Howard is winning all the polls. LOL But tomorrow first thing, I am heading down to vote for Latham. If it wasn't gonna be so close an election I would have voted greens all the way, but with it being so close, every vote for Latham is a vote against making King George declare Australia as the 51st state.

11. Considering the Mudoch sources
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 05:44 AM by interupt
I should do the same, because I get so perplexed at the polls showing a Primary vote well above 50%....uh what?

I hope to be pleasantly surprised tomorrow, but sadly we are part of the "Informed Minority." the rest of the sheep are happy with their 600 buck bribe

14. He's hurt this country and made us ashamed.
Howard has taken his orders from Bush, it is incredible how often his actions and words have mimicked Bush, half of Australia is fearful and the other half is ashamed of being Australian. I hear people say it with sorrow and I've never heard Australians talking like that before Howard joined in invasion of Iraq and also flung children into detention centres.

I don't know what will happen tomorrow but I'm hopeful.

15. Yes, I too am hopeful - cautiously hopeful, but I haven't given up.
The day of the Iraq invasion was the first time in my life I ever
felt ashamed to be Australian. I didn't like that feeling, and I
can never forgive Howard for making me feel that way.

16. Hi neighbour...
I'm in the Mackellar electorate, and despite Bronwyn Bishop probably getting an absolute majority again, I'll be voting Labor and preferencing Greens, with the Libs at the very bottom. Demographics have changed a lot here in the past few years, so you never know. Greens get my Senate vote.
Just watched Lateline and even the ABC talking heads concede a probable Howard win. I haven't yet got over 1996, the beginning of the dark years for this country. It's been all downhill since then.
Fingers crossed for 2morrow.

17. Yeay! - We must never give up!
I know how it feels to be in a safe Lib stronghold, and knowing
your vote really makes no difference, but at least we can let them
know our opinion.

Here's hoping ....
