The chimp vetoed a DRAFT Bill?? To squelch rumors that he will reinstate
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 09:48 AM by in_cog_ni_to
the Draft?

I just talked to a friend who said she saw a report that the chimp vetoed a Draft Bill or is GOING TO veto a Draft bill to stop the rumors that he will reinstate the Draft. Whaaaaaaat? Then she says to me, "The republicans said they are not reinstating the draft, but I'm still voting for Kerry." I said, "BUT THEY'RE LIARS You can't believe what they say!" PROBLEM IS...Her idiotic husband never believed that they were EVER going to reinstate the draft and will now, more than likely, vote for the chimp because of the friggin' tax break issue. Does anyone know what the heck she's talking about? Did you see any report about this this morning? She saw it SOMEWHERE on TV and the repukes are making it a big issue today to stop the rumors. Thanks!

edited out the Rangel bill.

What bill are the repukes talking about then?

1. You can't veto a bill if it's not passed.
So it can't be about the Rangle bill.

2. Draft Bill
My understanding is that there are actually 2 bills now pending in Congressional committees that reinstate the draft. At least one was introduced by a Democrat from New York, Rangel I think it was, as a protest against the Iraq War. I heard last night that the House was planning on moving it out of committee onto the floor and vote it down either last night (Tuesday, October 5th) or today, the 6th, in an effort to stiffle talk that Bush intended to reinstate the draft.

6. Ah,
so, it has NOTHING to do with the Selective Service Document that has been uncovered. Figures. Well, we knew the Rangel Bill would never be passed anyway because the Congressman kids would have had to go fight too.

What about the secret vote that the WH did with the repukes in Congress on whether they would vote for a Draft and they said they would? Does anyone have the information about that secret vote? I need to give my friend a copy.

3. They are talking about the Rengal Bill which is still in the armed
forces committee just sitting there. they are trying to get a vote on it so the republicans can squash all the rumors about the draft being reinstated. The bill has not even been voted on yet, so Bush has not vetoed it. It will not pass and it will be killed -- just what the Republicans want to do. Rangel was making a point with that bill ... I know its in committee just sitting there with all the other nowhere bills at the moment.

7. Thanks. I've read those.
I thought maybe the repukes had pulled a fast one and passed a bill and sent it to the chimp so he could do a symbolic veto for the press.

5. Of course they will
try to use this for political capital. Rangel bill was for even rich kids to serve. You know a republican admin will never allow their kids and classmates to actually risk their future. They were born to lead.

It's the one that they will use that will put our middle class and poor kids in jeopardy. Using financial aid records from colleges to pick who they want. Rich kids don't use aid.

Only suckers will believe this means no draft.
