Toby Keith's bus shot at, driver injured
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 03:05 AM by plastic_turkeys
OK, first people shot into a Bush/Cheney campaign office in Tennessee today. Now some idiot shoots into 'super-patriot' Toby Keith's bus in Texas and shoots the driver.

WTF is going on, already I see the cons saying "libs" have gone too far now, resorting to violence....I have my own theories. Whatever, I hope this crap stops!

1. I expect more of this.
It goes with the "Disloyal, Civil-War-Lusting Democrats" theme that the neos have invented.

Seen plenty of it here.

And again it is simple projection. They are the ones that want civil disorder -- so as to pin it on us.

There is likely worse ahead.

5. So is this stuff psy-ops on their part or are anti-bush nutcases doing it?
I can see both scenarios... either way, it must stop. For one thing, if the rightwing retaliates they have a lot more firepower and viciousness.... and they aren't known for turning the other cheek.

7. Who is pro-gun? Who has the lack of imagination to pick obvious targets?
Yes, Billy Bob, let's go shoot up Toby Keith's bus, he is OUR symbol dammit and we'll make it look like those libbys are doing it. Then we can go spread the word at how wild-eyed and crazed they are. Wanna bet? And these things happened in Texas and Tennessee? Not, say, Maine and Washington State? Come on.

6. Manufacturing Conflict/Resolution
If liberals can somehow be portrayed as domestic terrorists, their credibility will be lost, and their voices will be systematically silenced. It has already happened on some other fronts:

Conflict: Al Qaeda terrorists commit the atrocities of 9/11.

Resolution: Not only do we retaliate against Al Qaeda extremists, but we also extend our iron fist into Iraq. Many right-wing activists extend the definition of "terrorist" to include not only those who attacked us on 9/11, but also those who attempt to fight an occupation in their own country.

Conflict: Janet Jackson's breast is exposed during a Superbowl halftime show.

Resolution: Not only do we reprimand Janet and those who coordinated the event, but we create wide and sweeping restrictions on live broadcasts. Many right-wing activists extend the definition of "indecency" to include free speech, like Howard Stern's budding dissent.

Hypothetical Conflict: Lefties, enraged by a stolen election, take to the streets. Some violence ensues.

Hypothetical Resoultion: The right-wing press vilifies the dissenters, labeling them as "anarchists" that need to be detained for the sake of the Homeland. Citizens agree that there is no room for active dissent in a post-9/11 democracy. Not only do the police repress the "anarchists," but they repress all liberals who venture to voice their dissent publicly. Bush's administration continues to pillage as it did during the past four years, this time without all of the pesky protesters, allegations and inquiries to cover up.

Make no mistake: This is their next step. We need to subvert this outcome at any cost.

14. Hell of a DEM then.....
He did nothing but pimp for Bush to invade a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11 and then bomb civilians.

If he's a Dem and went along with that shit then he needs to come out of the closet and tell which party he really supports.

16. He only supported the invasion of Afghanistan....
while some here don't believe Afghanistan had anything to do with 9/11, I do.

I've heard him question the logic of invading Iraq on several occasions.

12. the dfw tv media said it was a random shooting......
Saw pictures on the tv of a plain vanilla bus with no Toby Keith markings. It happened at I-35 and the george bush tollway.

Lots of potential random shooting idiots out that way.

Toby Keith is currently very active with propositon 712 in Oklahoma. It has something to do with school tax revenue, Indian gaming and horse tracks. Maybe the mob is pissed at him.
