Limbaugh called Jesse Jackson a ‘Chocolate Chip’
http://www.blackamericaweb.com/site.aspx/bawnews/chip103

Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh called Jesse Jackson a “chocolate chip” on his syndicated show last week. Two black political experts said Limbaugh’s words were meant to offend.

“The right wing is so desperate they have to fight with racially coded food metaphors,” Keith Boykin, a former senior aide in the Clinton administration, told BlackAmericaWeb.com Sunday. “This reminds me of the Texaco case and the color of jelly beans.” In 1996, a race discrimination suit claimed that Texaco executives disparaged their black employees as “black jelly beans.”

Boykin called Limbaugh’s remarks, “a concerted effort to play the race card.”

Here is what Limbaugh said during his Sept. 29 broadcast, according to the Web site mediamatters.org: “The Kerry campaign has finally gotten a chocolate chip. The Kerry campaign has announced that civil rights activist, the Reverend Jackson, has joined the campaign on Wednesday – that's today, the day before the debate. Jesse Jackson has joined the Kerry campaign.”

Audio of Limbaugh’s statement was available at the Web site.

“It’s standard Rush Limbaugh racism,” said Ronald Walters, a political science professor at the University of Maryland. “What does he mean? Is it because of earlier criticism that there were no serious, authentic blacks in the Kerry campaign?

“My first thought,” Walters continued, “was the criticism that Kerry’s camp was so white. But there are blacks in the campaign, and Limbaugh must know that.

“It’s a backhanded racist remark; they finally got somebody authentic somebody of value.”

Before Jackson joined the John Kerry campaign as a senior adviser, Vernon Jordan, a close Bill Clinton confidante, was negotiating the debating conditions for the Democratic presidential candidate.

Also, Susan Rice, a former Clinton-era assistant secretary of state, prepped Kerry for his Thursday debate with Republican incumbent George W. Bush on foreign policy.

A number of other black political professionals have roles inside the Kerry camp.

Said Boykin, who has been playing a presidential candidate on “American Candidate,” the Showtime cable network “reality” TV show, “For all the talk of building a colorblind society,” he said “they are obsessed with race.

“It’s sad, tragic and desperate that there is this level of politics practiced by the right wing.”

Far less has gotten other broadcasters fired or censored! And remember last year when he got fired from his dream ESPN job for his comments on Donovan McNabb.

7. His audience is too big
He still carries a large audience. I quit listening to him after he kept going off on ex-Republicans who were voting for Kerry...he would call them plants and shout them down. That made me mad, I wanted to hear their reasons. Limbaugh lost a listener, and not too long after that Kerry gained another supporter. Oh well...sucks to be him. :D

15. For one thing, none of us are willing to put any energy into it.
I posted a suggestion to write LTTEs about this....... not one response.

Does that give a clue?

8. Sounds like a perfect LTTE to me! Think about it.....
He makes a very obvious racist comment.

Public tax dollars are involved in broadcasting his "show" to the armed forces.

Sounds like a few laws being broken......

Write, write, write!!

9. Kerry an SOB on Friday, Jackson a Chocolate Chip today
How can this bastard still be on the air? Rush and his fellow Repigs are beginning to sound shrill - the last card they have is to name call and express blatant racism. They are DESPERATE!

11. Jesse probably won't mind. He'll just look forward to a more...
flavorful Kerry campaign.

--SNIP--

Jesse was furious that Kerry had ducked the rally, even though he was campaigning only 30 miles away. Jesse sneered at the inadequacy of the Kerry campaign's much-publicized "shakeup" and its whitebread, retread Clintonista imports, snarling that "it can't be just a vanilla shake."

13. Certainly tame next to a drug dealer
I don't know why guys who are being
investigated for drug dealing and
taking same substance are calling
names. This Republican name calling
is juvenile next to the real criminal
tags on their backs.
