Schwarzenegger passes first politician's litmus test: caught.....lying!
In a 1977 interview with OUI Magazine, Ahnold acknowledges his drug use: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/arnoldoui1.html

Oui: Do you use dope?

Arnold 'hophead' Schwarzenegger: Yes, grass and hash-no hard drugs ...

In 1988 interview with Playboy, Ahnold changes his tune: http://www.playboy.com/features/features/arnold/druguse.html

PLAYBOY: What about other drugs ; have you done them?

Arnold "Is this lie big enough to be governor?" Schwarzenegger: Never in my entire life. When I came to America, someone gave me a drug like speed. He told me it would make me sharper and I'd lose weight. But I lost muscle tone. It was like having a hard-on that's not hard, that is half limp. I don't like that. I like to feel fully pumped. I threw the pills away. Nor has anyone so much as smoked a joint when I was there. Or sniffed coke. Or taken any drugs. In Hollywood, I have never seen any drugs on the set or anywhere. It could be because people know me well enough to know that I don't want anything like that. I'm around actors all the time -- and I've worked with them in Mexico, on jungle locations where you'd think it might happen just to pass the time -- and I've never seen it.

As someone who's spent plenty of time on/around sets and with actors, may I just add to that last statement, "Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....(snork!)...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Yep, that qualifies him, I guess.

2. Give me a break
Anyone who survived the 60s or 70s and lived the life of a Hollywood star, could not have avoided being in the same room with drugs. This doesn't mean that everyone in the room was participating, it's just that during that time you could not go to a Hollywood party where people weren't doing drugs. Heck there were hardly any parties in the whole country that you couldn't find someone in the corner blowing a joint.

5. That's not the point
He admitted, in Jimmy Carter's America, to using grass and/or hash. No biggie.

He later contradicted that statement, and needlessly, ridiculously embellished that contradiction, in George Bush's America.

Get it?

3. Pleeeeease
It was the 70's when Arnold came to America, he was a bodybuilder in California, steroids weren't illegal yet, and he admitted using them. You can see him smoking a joint after he won Mr. Olympia in the 1975 documentary, Pumping Iron. He's full of shit. He did all kinds of drugs.

4. That surpasses "I didn't inhale"...
On the credibility scale. How can anyone NOT see/smell drug use on a movie location?? :smoke:

I love that the contradiction appeared in two different porno magazines (albeit Playboy is so softcore as to be negligible), which should make the Bill Bennett wing of the party apprehensive, or let's hope it does.

But Chimpy panders to the christian right with all his jesus talk. Does Arnold pay them lip service? I don't know - I haven't followed the circus too closely. Plus, he is pro-choice and pro-Brady Bill. The only bone he has seemed to throw the Robertson wing is his stance against gay marriage - which may be enough for them, who knows. I am talking about how these interviews could add to what MAY be latent suspicions on that part of the party not ready to throw support behind him.

12. In California (as in NY) they try the "moderate GOP" oxymoron
W supported Riordan (moderate) in the real elections - but wingnuts voted for Simon and lost (same scenario as in New Jersey and elsewhere). It doesn't matter. As Limpball was translating "Compassionate Conservative" to his ditto heads in 2000: "He can call himself blue cheese, we know he's our boy"

Edited on Thu Aug-28-03 12:40 PM by robbedvoter
abused women, continued daddy's nazi ties, pontificated against gay marriage and is trying to hijack a democratic election?
It's not nice to attack people. Only GOP-ers do that. We need to lie down and take it - anything else would be...hypocritical or sumthin'

13. Here's the problem
There is indisputable, conclusive proof that he consiously, purposefully lied.

There is zero that he 'continued daddy's nazi ties'.

15. Why is this man so obsessed with his penis?
But I lost muscle tone. It was like having a hard-on that's not hard, that is half limp. I don't like that.

What is with this man and his ability to get an erection? I am convinced he has a real problem in that department.
