My Daughter-in-Law is home from IRAQ!!!! Woohooooo!
Thank God!

Here's what she said:

1. When her daughter (5 years old) saw her she was so stunned she just held her for the longest time and wouldn't let her go. They both cried.

2. The way things are going in Iraq, there's no way we can win. The more Iraqis we kill, the more Iraqis get mad and join the insurgency.

3. The Iraqis that worked with the Americans had to have their entire families moved on base so they wouldn't be kidnapped, and/or killed by other Iraqis.

4. It's getting worse.

5. She's VERY happy to be home.

7. No.
She's in the Air Force and she will not be re-enlisting.

2. For good? (fingers crossed)
I hope so. If not, then tell her to REFUSE to go back to Iraq. And have your daughter seek political asylum in Canada until end of Janruary.

6. Canada is not currently accepting political refugees from the US
We are, however, accepting tourists.

Iraq, though!

8. She lives 20 minutes from the Canadian border.
I wouldn't expect her to "refuse" to do anything, though. As it stands now, she's getting out when her enlistment is up. If they don't let her, she may become more drastic. But, apparently, they are trying to shrink the Air Force and grow the Army, so she doesn't think she'll have a problem getting out.

9. I am so happy for you!
It must have been a great relief to see her home in one piece. As the wife of a soldier that returned from Iraq just 6 months ago, I know what a wonderful feeling it is to have them home. It does take a bit of adjustment though.

I am so glad she doesn't have to go back!

25. Just putting it out there
I don't mean to be mean but there would be now soldiers in Iraq if they just refused to go. Bush is a coward so we know he is not pulling any triggers or dropping any bombs on those innocent people and freedom fighters.

It is true. If those "soldiers" would refuse to go to Iraq we would not be their. I'm talking we need to get militant.

35. Conservative Troops must pay
It's true. You have to be very stupid to join the military. We need to start attacking the Nazi Marines and soldiers if they don't stop participating.

48. "you have to be very stupid to join the military"
wow, just wow. I just don't know what to say. Next time you go to the clinic or hospital, ask the doctors how many of them joined the military to pay for medical school.

Stop participating? It isn't always as easy as fleeing to Canada. Before my husband was sent to Iraq, he and his friends were not allowed to leave their rooms to go anywhere so they could not go AWOL.

36. My daughter was wounded an lost an eye.
She will be scarred for life. Conservative or progressive, hey this is America. Conservative beliefs are not anymore illegal than Progressive ones. To bismirch a soldiers service is a very low tact to take. Especially when you would never have the balls to serve yourself. And don't give me all of this shit about "principles." Cowardice is no principle.

I'm sorry your daughter lost an eye but how many innocent people did she kill? Those troops are fighting an illegal war and they are just as guilty. They can go to Canada or Mexico.

40. You know how many innocent people insurgents have killed?
You know what she was doing when she was wounded? She was helping some Iraqis at a bad car accident that were injured. The MP convoy she was with stopped to help. Some Iraqis threw a grenade into the crowd that had gathered.

47. What have you done to deserve your country doing anything for you?
I served my country for 6 years as a US Army Ranger. Got shot at in Panama, Desert Storm and got wounded in Somalia. I have never demanded or even expected my country to do anything for me. I have my own business, a shitload of toys and all of them I got by busting my ass working for it.

The only thing my country has done for me is allowed me to make my decisions and enjoy the fruits of my own work. That is all my country should do for anyone.

28. We Needed Some Good News
Repukes seem to think that there isn't a war going on. They'll talk about ANYTHING but the war. They'll even go as far as talking about OTHER people talking about the war.

But none of them seems to realize that it's not a TV show you can turn off at will. Some of us are "in Iraq" most of the day, praying every time there is bad news that it isn't one we love, and grieving for those who find out soon enough it is one they love and now have lost.

Repukes are heartless bastards, whose coward sons drive around the next town over pretending to be baddases while the real men and women carry the burden.

I want to print up a bumper sticker: IT TAKES MORE THAN A YELLOW RIBBON.

Sorry to get on the soapbox. I am thrilled for your family. A happy ending feels good right about now.

32. You are so blessed to have her back.
My daughter (an Army medic) came back in June. Wounded and minus an eye. Last friday the Marines informed a friend of mine that his son had been killed. He will be buried sunday.

I will break out my BDUs, my Ranger Beret and attend. I knew this kid and he dated my daughter a couple of times.
