Who was the Clinton hold-over General who wanted to keep Iraqi army
in tact but was fired by the Bush admin and replaced with Breamer?
Was it Gardner?

He wanted to keep the 500,000 Iraqi military in place, lop off the Saddam loyalists officers, and ensure that the military continued to receive their pay. It turns out, his was a much better plan. they could have easily maintained order and security. Instead, the Bush policy turned them into insurgents. Way to go Bush. You are some uniter. No, you are an un-tier. This is a point that the Dems should press. The media won't do it, but the Kerry campaing can. At least this is red meat for the debates. I just don't see how Bush can agree to hold any debates. How do you think Rove will get out of them?
I think a very high threat alert will do it. That would serve two purposes, it would remind the dittoheads how dangerous things are and it would give cover for Bush not appearing in public until after the elections. Anybody have any ideas on what Rove will use to stop the debates?

"We ought to be beating our chests every day. We ought to look in a mirror and get proud and stick out our chests and suck in our bellies and say: 'Damn, we're Americans!'

"They could have easily maintained order and security"? Not a chance. Put a million troops in; they're doomed either way (they might last another year).
