Judge Orders U.S. to Open Iraq Records
NEW YORK - Suggesting the government was acting as if it had something to hide, a federal judge Wednesday gave Washington one month to release records related to the treatment of prisoners in Iraq (news - web sites).
U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein chastised officials for moving at a "glacial pace" in responding to nearly year-old Freedom of Information Act requests from the American Civil Liberties Union (news - web sites) and four other watchdog organizations.

"If the documents are more of an embarrassment than a secret, the public should know of our government's treatment of individuals captured and held abroad," Hellerstein wrote. "We are a nation that strives to value the dignity of all humanity."

1. war criminals
plain and simple.

treasonous war criminals have managed to aim the world's weapons at us.

i shuddered when sy hersch looked out at that audience in virginia the other day and said, "we are in serious trouble in iraq, people." "it is really bad."

3. You know, if Imperial Amerika was a Nation of Laws instead of an embryonic
Lawless (for Bushevik PARTY Members) Totalitarian Orwellian State awash in a sea of lies, I would feel better about that.

My suspicion, however, is that like with so many other things, the Busheviks will simply ignore the order, using their Party-Loyal Sub-Media to blast and muddy the waters. Time will tick off, nothing will get done.

And, as with so much other lawless behavior from the Imperials, getting away with it means it's "legal".

Period. End of story.

I hope I am wrong, but I have seen it happen far too many times to think anything else will happen.

Totalitarianism 101: Imperial Amerika 2004.
