Yesterday on CNN's website
there was a poll that asked "do you believe civil was will break out in Iraq?", or words to that effect. I thought that, with "sovereignty" handed over to the Iraqis in June, any fighting taking place RIGHT NOW would be deemed a civil war, as the fighting is taking place in a "sovereign" nation, between two groups of its citizens. No?

1. Yes.
But you know how stupid CNN is. They are waiting for the sides to don blue and grey and see the Stars and Bars floating on the breeze and for bands to play "Dixie" before they believe in a Civil War (I use these American illustrations because CNN is so America-centered).

BTW, welcome to DU!

2. Iraq is in anarchy now.
Besides the Kurds the rest are united against occupation. The leader of the best freedom fighters will rule after we are kicked out.
