Listening to Zogby on cspan now 5:28PM est.
This is a rebroadcast from Wed. It's interesting. He said Shrub is winning on the war and leadership, but NOTHING ELSE!

He said Kerry needs to reenergize his base! He needs to come out against the war! Not to worry about shrub saing he flip-flopped. He already has 43% of the country, and his base is waiting for something to get them wild again! There's no way he's going to get any of shrub's base, so don't worry about it. He needs the solid base to get out and vote, and a decent share of the undecideds.

Good broadcast.

1. That seems to be exactly what Kerry will be doing
in the final 6 weeks. I'm glad that the campaign has made this dramatic turn. This will definitely energize the base, IMHO.

7. Also added a few more interesting things:
People say Fl. tragedies a benefit to shrub. Yes, but FEMA is going to be the most scrutinized. The other day, it was announced that a needy family received their check from FEMA right away! It was for $26.50. No one wins because of Fl.

Higher income voters are afraid of losing their job in the next 12 months. Big problem for Shrub.

Majority of voters feel worse off than 4 years ago.

If lots of people 35 and under vote this year...Kerry wins! Pay attention to the exit polls. If you hear there are lots of young voters going to the polls, Kerry will win!

Some really interesting stuff here.

2. Zogby's right, of course
The war is the issue. The issue is the war. Kerry is trying, finally, to find his voice on this, as he has spoken out on it more forcefully in the past couple of days. It may be too late. Maybe not. Events in the next six weeks are going to determine the outcome of this election. I just hope that the Kerry team gets their act together and positions their candidate on the right side of those events.

4. What ticks me off about this....
I'm sorry but "the base" should know better. Assuming "the base" consider themselves liberal, they should be smart enough to realize that Bush is the most dangerous president to come down the pike and possibly the most hostile one ever to liberal causes. If "the base" can't get past their need to moral purity then we are just up shits creeks. Yes there are positions that Kerry is less than optimally liberal on for me. But there is nothing NOTHING more important to me than voting shrub out of office. If someone considers themselves liberal in any way and they are not willing to vote for Kerry to acheive these ends then that dissapoints me much more than someone who is apathetic or who doesn't follow politics closely enough to know what Kerry is about.

6. The Humphrey strategy of 1968
He came out against the war in late September of 1968. He almost came back and won.

At this point anything Kerry says about the Iraq war will be childishly denounced by the Bush team as a "flip-flop" (whatever that means). The way to redirect that debate is not to make parsed denials of whether or not an issue position is a "flip-flop". Rather, it should be argued that being right is more important than being consistent.

8. How can Bush keep winning on the war when Iraq is such a freaking mess?
GRRRRRR!!!!!

What is wrong with people? Never mind we shouldn't be there in the first
place and were lied into starting it!! Its turning into the quagmire everyone
and his sister predicted it would.
