In response to William Safire's article
"First, Find the Forger", I wrote the following letter of recommendation. Please join me in telling William that it is hypocrisy to expect that Dan Rather be held to standards higher than the President of the United States of America. You can reach him at
William Safire(safire@nytimes.com). Feel free to use the letter that I have written below.

Mr. Safire:
I take your article, "First, Find the Forger", to mean that you know that it is indeed customary to investigate a felonious activity. I hope that you will pursue with equal zeal the felony perpetrated by a senior administration official, or officials, that outed undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame in a Robert Novak column. In addition, I also hope that you will immediately call for a thorough independent investigation into the president's personal use and interpretation of prewar Iraq intelligence.
As you said so well: "liberals should stop pretending that noble ends justify fake-evidence means."
If that is the case, perhaps you should stop pretending that a noble ends in Iraq justifies fake evidence means, and start applying the same standards to the President of the United States that you are applying to Dan Rather.
