The Lies About Iraq
What bugs you more, the lies that President Bush and his surrogates told about the rationale behind the war in Iraq, or the lies that President Bush and his surrogates told about the cost of Iraq War?

I can see both sides of it; if they had admitted what they really wanted to do (assuming you don't believe that the only reason they wanted to invade Iraq was to get their hands on oil) we could have had a real debate on whether or not Iraq was a good idea, instead of the phony debate.

Hiding the costs of the war, on the other hand, seems more ignoble to me. Almost petty. You are sending us into Iraq on the cheap to protect a tax cut?

I don't know, what do you think? And although this isn't the campaign forum, it's worth considering also what answer should President Kerry speak to?

One of the Republican talking points forever has been, yeah the Democrats may be idealists, but we know how to get things done. Well, even if you support the idea of invading Iraq (and I don't, at least not under these circumstances) they certainly haven't done a very good job of it.

1. What bothers me the most is....
the lies about the rationale for war and the lies about what would be the post war situation in Iraq and that they had a plan to win the peace....they ignored the state department and the military plans for post war Iraq and now so many are dying because of their gross misconduct that any other Prez would have been impeached for by now.

2. Why must I choose? It's all a horrible crime...
... posibly the most vile act any American president has ever committed.

:grr:

3. No doubt
but the reason its interesting to consider such questions is that in arguing the wrongness of the war with others, it's best to know where you feel the most strongly about and where the best persuasive arguments are.

4. I suppose, but...
... I'd favor listing all the main points:

1. Bush twisted the intelligence to justify invading Iraq

2. He had no plans for occupation or exit -- just a fantasy of Iraqis greeting us with flowers

3. The cost of this thing is killing us -- hundreds of billions of dollars that we could sure use here at home

:)

5. Kerry should speak to getting out of Iraq.
The rationale and cost are now irrelevent. The problem is to get us the hell out or Iraq and let the Iraqis have their country back. He's still tiptoeing around the fact that the war and occupation is a flop in all aspects, and trying to have it both ways by saying that he will win over "allies" because he's nicer than boobya is.

He says that it's painful to point out the problems in Iraq because we have troops there. Well, the "problem" is that the troops ARE there blowing things up and killing people.

It's time to "cut and run", claim victory, acknowledge defeat, or, just pack up and go. Now.

6. The most dispicable crime committed by the nazis
Is the use of the military for political games. They are clearly making Iraq policy decisions based on the potential political fallout. This means they are choosing to attack or pullback, use bombs or troops, or march into cities or stay out...all based on how they think it will effect the polls. We all know they are doing this. This is the sickest crime they are guilty of. They are using the lives of our soldiers and of innocent Iraqs as a tool for the campaign. For this they should all be arrested and tried for treason and, if guilty, sentenced with the death penalty.
