Wanted: Suggestion for diesel car to convert to SVO fuel system

What do you think would be the way to go? I hear a lot about using old Mercedes for this, but I wonder if the repair costs would get bad in a couple years. Do you think a newer Ford truck would be a better idea?

1. Seems like most people use those VW golfs or rabbits

whichever one they issued as a deisel

But why not do it on a truck?

3. Go with a small displacement engine like say...

the VW diesel. A full size V-8 diesel converted will produce a huge plume of black exhaust that will anger everyone behind you. Don't purchase a white vehicle either, unless you like washing them every hundred miles, or so. Also, install extra fuel filters to keep the injectors operating.
