Nasty reaction to a Kerry lawn sign

My sister put a Kerry / Edwards lawn sign up in front of her home in Tennessee two days ago. She was so proud, she took pictures to send to me LOL Yesterday she went out to get the mail and found that someone had stuffed her mailbox with a cheesy saucy burrito. Shoved it in and smooshed it around. The mailman did not notice, and shoved their mail into the mess. What the hell is wrong with some people?

Sometimes people are just out for kicks, no matter how weird or demented. Hate to target kids, but this could be the case here. Maybe just some kids out for what apparently passes as a good time. Or maybe it was some drunken fool who just wanted to get rid of the burrito in the middle of the night. My point is, try not to jump to conclusions until there is absolute proof of the reason.

is still vandalism whether it is done "for kicks" or in malice. Being young and irresponsible is not an acceptable excuse.

I would need a little more proof to say for sure that the sign was the trigger - but I do think it is a safe assumption until proven otherwise.

and have had no problems. Maybe it's because I live in a good state(no not the state of confusion) and people around here are a bit more civilized, or maybe it's because there are more Kerry supporters around here, or maybe its none of the above. All I am saying is that there are a lot of gloom and doomers in DU who blame everything on republicans. I dislike what the gop has become as much as anybody, but I am also a realist. It most likely was because of the sign, but one shouldn't automatically assume that that's the reason without investigation. And the woman should call the cops, if nothing else, maybe they'll patrol her neighborhood more to keep an eye out for the vandal or vandals.

I've got my signs in my windows figuring if someone goes to the effort to break one then at least I'll have a real claim...because the police won't do anything over someone doing some minor damage outside. On the upside, my neighborhood does have a pretty decent number of Kerry yard signs and I've seen most of them stay up...that's promising.

More promising is that I'm seeing more and more pickup trucks with kerry Bumperstickers...for what it's worth.

Anyway very sorry to hear about the vandalism to your sister's mailbox...sad that the brownshirts are so threatened by a sign...sick and wrong...but very telling. Neoconservativism is founded on 3 things...Greed, insecurity and blind anger.

Only productive thing I think you can do in response is write the local paper and talk about it...ask about what part of the constitution they are defending with their vandalism...which part of Democracy they are advancing by their juvenile destruction. Won't fix the culprits, but might wake up a few of the sheeple who are sitting on the fence.

my husband and I took Crisco lard and smoothed in on the white edge of all 3 sides and shook cayenne pepper on it. It's in the yard, I checked it yesterday... the cayenne pepper may lose it's oouummph, but if they pick it up with their hands, their hands will be VERY VERY sticky, greasy and red.

I volunteered at the Demo headquarters at Armor & Burlington today and told a lady about this who has had 2 signs stolen.

We had sign issues in the last Canadian election.

Conservative supporters vandalized the office of a gay Liberal candidate in Winnipeg with homophobic slurs.

Liberals and New Democrats in Windsor either stole the signs of the Jewish Conservative candidate or wrote Nazi slurs all over them.

Jewish Liberal candidates in Montreal frequently saw their signs vandalised with swastikas, while all Liberals there had their signs vandalised with sponsorship scandal related insults or had their pictures vandalised with horns and Devil tails. Most of these were done by anarchists and radical nationalists.

In Ottawa, former NDP leader Ed Broadbent had over 1,700 signs stolen, with hundreds found at the bottom of the Rideau Canal by supporters of Liberal sleeze-bag Richard Mahoney.

In Charlottetown, the NDP candidate saw 900 signs "disappear".

My hometown of Cornwall wasn't bad, but a wind storm damaged or destroyed some of the Conservative candidate's obnoxiously large signs. (as in large enough to take up half a lawn)
