Ok, so I had a meeting with Mitch Daniels...
and he says the reason for our healthcare costs going up is that people are getting fat, drinking and smoking. He mentioned nothing about trial lawyers and their impact on the cost of healthcare. Seems like he is splitting with his old Boss. W. I guess he missed the memo.

He did say that he thought people were perceptive in Indiana and had a dislike for Kerry from the get go. I love partisan politics.

Overall, he was nice and not that far out there, but he played to the crowd I was in tonight.

1. Funny, his comment about Kerry ...
'cause I'm seeing 5 Kerry/Edwards stickers to every 1 Chimp/Satan sticker I see up here in Carmel/Castleton ... that ain't no small feat for conservative metro Indy/Hamilton County !!

:hi:

Friend of mine has changed his nickname from 'My Man Mitch' (the campaign signs) to 'My Bitch Mitch' (as in, George's boy). I like it !

4. I am starting to see more
Cheney/ Bush stickers these days. Our neighbors and us have formed a yard sign alliance that has 5 houses in a row with Kerry Edwards signs. It is quite impressive in such a hostile backwards state.

2. What happened to the story on his drug bust?
Did it fall into the black hole of the Pulliam newspapers?

(another lonely Hoosier DUer)

3. I didn't get to ask
Laura Bush was in town and he had to run off to lick her boots. It is nice to know there are more DUer's in the Indy area. Mitch was nice and seemed sincere. He tried to maintain his own personal message and stay away from the Washington stuff.

Not, that I would vote for him, but he seemed pretty genuine.

6. If you had any idea of the cancer rate in our County,
thanks to Mitch's local Lilly plant, you would know the spawn of satan line is not far from the truth.

9. It got turned around on the Dems
...'cause Mitch's opponent, ole' Joe Kernan, admitted that he too was guilty of the same 'youthful indiscretion' (pot experimentation - no arrest or anything) ... so it's become a non-issue.

7. another person here living in IN
I'll have to get one of those "my man mitch" signs and change it to "Bush Bitch Mitch" with a little bumpersticker and magic marker magic. LOL

there are other people on DU from IN-

Salin
ProlesUnited
Bloom
IamJack'sSmirkingRevenge
Indiana Green
HippieChick
BigJawn
Sinookas
Rick Myers

...and others, I'm sure, since I haven't been around here much lately.

a few of us got together when Will Pitt spoke at IU a while back, and earlier at vigils on Monument Square before the invasion of Iraq.

I hear the dems need people to work phone banks on election day if you're interested. I'm gonna try to get to a meeting so that I can help out.
