What is the big deal about Bush's "swagger"?
"Some folks look at me and see a certain swagger, which in Texas is called walking," Bush said at the Rep. Convention. Is he trying to relate to all the "macho" guys out there (or what)?

Except for Putin. Who I think is pretty short.

45. That's what the PR says. That's bullsh*t. Laura's almost as tall as
he is. He wears lifts at debates and such. But dancing with his daughters, or sometimes standing next to Laura, you'll see he's not much taller than they are. And they are not all giants, are they? I mean, do you think Laura Bush is 5'8"? Or her daughters?

51. that's what he says ...
But isn't it funny how his campaign literature and even his WH medical reports claim he is the magic 6' tall (just the right image to convey authority!).

Wonder if he's shrinking physically? He does seem a lot smaller than other people I know who are 5'11" or even 5'10".

69. Part of it is that he has a small head. It makes him look even
shorter than he is. I would guess that he's 5'9", maybe 5'10" tops.

Funny thing is that Al Gore is not as tall as he seems on TV. I'm 5'10" and he's not much taller than I am. But on TV he seems to be about 6'2" or more.

trying to make a joke about something that many people don't even care about. It's an insult which really isn't an insult, makes him seem more macho.

Maybe if he would joke about his incompetance, going AWOL, his cocaine use, his lies, WMD, and his phoneyness then that would be something.

this stance of his you see in little kids playing cowboy ready to reach for guns. he hitches his pants up and centers his belt buckle right after he beats his wife. any one notice the white knuckled grip he held her with at the 911 silent ceremony. looks weary and bleary eyed to me, and she really looks comatose and controlled. sigh. if that is the other 50% we share our country with there is no hope of enlightenment.

15. Yeah, voters will vote for Bush because of the way he walks...
Bush seemed to score highest among the Missouri voters when he was most personal. His self-deprecating comments about butchering the English language and walking with a Texas swagger drew laughter and knowing nods. That section of the speech was the easiest to listen to, they said, and it spoke to some of their worries about him.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A60447-2004Sep3.html

At least in Missouri they will.

Wouldn't you vote for a candidate because you like his walk? (Oh, and how that candidate makes fun of himself?)

16. how to walk like dubya
To get the macho look of a Kevlar undershirt to make your arms stick out at the sides like dubya: Wrap six layers of aluminum foil around your trunk up the armpits. Secure tightly with several rolls of duct tape.
To get that manly bowlegged swagger without ever riding a horse: Soak the bottom in a sitz bath for several days in a mixture of poison ivy elixer and Compound W Wart remover.

21. When a guy "swaggers" it means that he is insecure and lacks confidence
in himself.

Secure, confident men don't need to "swagger" in order to try to impress people. They don't need to do anything to impress people.

People simply naturally recognize and respect a secure, confident man.

Poor Bu$h. He is not even consciously aware of his inferiority complex.

taking tiny steps! Holding his short arms out from his short body.

Very odd man, to say the least. "Swagger" never really has come to mind when I've seen any film of him walking. He has short arms and legs. He has too much tension in his muscles. He's wired. Not much self control.

He's "uncool."

And everyone knows it.

I don't give a shit about the way he walks. I am bothered by a president who refers to dead people by leaning forward on the podium, smirking, and saying, "let's just say they won't be a problem anymore".

It's crude, it's unpresidential, it's unprofessional, and it's embarrassing. If Bush and his supporters don't understand that, they're even more stupid than I thought.

58. That is it exactly. It's a swagger confined to his shoulders. He reminds
me of nothing quite so much as the cocky second-grader (the one that always made you cringe when he opened his mouth, 'cos he was just a smart-alec trouble-maker) who managed to memorize his lines for the class play or something, and delivered them without fucking them up totally.
He's just got this juvenile, schoolyard bully kind of attitude, but one that tells you the only thing he's got to back it up is the silver spoon up his ass.

the crocodile tears that well up when dead troops are mentioned, the in-costume "flight-deck prance," the various other macho-drag dress-up opportunities, the pseudo tough-cowboy "wanted dead or alive" crap, the brush-clearing photo ops, -- it's all a package and it's 100% FAKE.

Everything about this guy is all on the surface -- he's about as deep as a bundt pan. He simply does what Karl tells him to at home, and what Dick tells him to do abroad.

part of the Dr. Seuss children's reader on this administration.

You should get someone to illustrate it. A short children's book for the 'undecided' voter. Nobody's been able to figure out where their mind is. Maybe Dr. Seuss would be their epiphany.

64. I am working on making into an illustrated book; trying to finish it quick
and find a publisher. Just a little book, like about the size of the "Blue Day Book."
It wasn't meant to sound so "Seussian" and not all of it does, but I'm flattered *lol*

60. He's a New England fratboy poser.
If he were from Texas, it would be a swagger. What he has is hemorrhoids. Large, uncomfortable, bleeding hemorrhoids. I hope so, anyway.
