US Helicopters Fire on Civilians in Baghdad
The U.S. military said it was investigating an incident in Baghdad Sunday in which U.S. helicopters opened fire on people milling around an abandoned American armored vehicle.

At least five people were killed, including a producer for Al Arabiya television. A Reuters cameraman was among the wounded.

A U.S. military statement said the helicopters were fired on from the vicinity of the armored vehicle before they attacked.

But Reuters television footage of the incident showed no evidence any of the Iraqis around the Bradley vehicle were armed or had opened fire.

3. I think this is a how to win friends thing.
It is like when the white people in the South bombed Black churches with children in them. Makes every one just 'love' the bombers. Then when it is shown all over the world it really makes the world see how things stand. Then we stand around and wonder why people do not like us. Since we seem to be so dense we can not figure it out.

4. The US is worse than Saddam....
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 06:58 AM by leftchick
Saddam never pretended to be brining freedom and democracy to the Iraqis as he slaughtered them. Unlike the US....

Omar Ali stands next to walls stained with blood including that of his brothers, at their apartment in Haifa Street, Iraq (news - web sites), Monday Sept. 13, 2004. The stains occurred when injured people scrambled into the building for help on Sunday, after a U.S. helicopter shot at cheering crowd gathered near a burning Bradley fighting vehicle, next to their apartment block in Haifa street. His brother lost his eyes to shrapnel wounds as he was watching the incident from the balcony. (AP Photo/Khalid Mohammed)

6. To leftchick: A note of thanks.
I've seen several of your posts with photos of what war really is. Not the usual grinning GI's "protecting our vital interest$". Keep up the good work. Some here need to be reminded that war is not noble or glorious.

5. "..U.S. military said it was investigating an incident .."
Which means it will disappear. If the press should suddenly display some ethics (farfetched idea) and pursue it, the military will then express it's "regret at the loss of civilian life".

Someone remind me why we "need to stay in Iraq to prevent violence".
