1. They really do represent the Big Money is this country
And to think I actually used to consider them viable sources of news. After my business went downhill, I got the time to really do some intensive research on politics, and what I learned means that I will never trust media outlets like Time, Newsweek, etc.

6. Yea, that would be helpful -
I don't subscribe to either, but am curious to what this poster is talking about.

If this thread is based upon information from another thread, then I'm clueless. Not all of us follow all the threads. I've been sitting here for hours reading this thread, and the links within it http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2327623

4. Does anyone still read them?
Are there any periodicals still worth buying or even reading anymore? I sometimes go down to my local B&N and get a coffee and read the magazines, but nearly everything is pitiful these days.

Maybe I'm too jaded or in perpetual information overload, but it seems that the quality has gone down precipitously in the past decade. Meanwhile the prices for a *magazine* continue to climb to ever more ridiculous heights. uughh.

5. The Nation is pretty good
So is American Prospect.

The New Republic(an) has become too far to the right as of late (it's support for the war and endorsement of Lieberman were inexcusable), but they have some good articles once in a while. I don't read it much anymore because most of the stuff on their site requires a paid subscription...That and it really isn't very good.
